Dr Ben Rees, who lives in the city's Dingle district, is chairman of the Merseyside Welsh Heritage society which has been campaigning against demolition of an area of Liverpool known as “The Welsh Streets”.
They were built in the late 19th century and bear names like Powis Street and Garth Drive as a testament to the huge influx of Welsh people who came to Liverpool to work as dockers.
But they are now facing the ravages of time and Liverpool City Council has expressed a desire to demolish them.
