MALKY PLANNING FUTURE WITH CITY

Sat Jun 02, 2012 7:01 am

MALKY Mackay is today continuing to drive plans forward at Cardiff City next season – despite growing speculation that Norwich will approach him to become their next manager.

Bluebirds boss Mackay was yesterday willing to talk about his plans for Cardiff, but would not discuss the situation at Carrow Road.

Canaries chief executive David McNally strongly denied yesterday the Premier League club have made an approach to either Cardiff or Mackay.

A Bluebirds spokesman backed that up, saying: “The club will not get involved in speculative lines in every instance, but at this moment no approach has been made to Cardiff City for Malky.”

It is understood that Mackay, Celtic’s Neil Lennon and Birmingham boss Chris Hughton are top of Norwich’s list in the wake of Paul Lambert’s departure.

And McNally confirmed: “Looking for a new manager is what we will concentrate on for the next few days, few weeks maybe.

“We’ll look at the market and it’s about having a manager that’s hungry, committed.

“We’ll need to check out their knowledge, their skill, their experience and their attitude.

“Those are attributes and factors that are important to us.

“I’ve seen it reported that we’ve contacted both their particular clubs (Celtic and Cardiff City) about their managers.

“We haven’t and I’d like to put that on record.”

One television channel had reported a Norwich enquiry for Mackay on the back of Celtic turning down advances for Lennon.

Mackay had been installed as an early favourite by some bookmakers following the resignation of Aston Villa-bound Lambert.

Norwich’s joint biggest shareholders, husband and wife team Michael Wynn-Jones and Delia Smith, each know Mackay well and are likely to back a move for the Bluebirds boss.

McNally, who was instrumental in Lambert’s appointment in 2009, knows Lennon well from their time together at Celtic.

“We were in a situation where we were approached by another club, asking for permission to speak to Paul Lambert,” said McNally.

“We wanted to keep our manager, who’s been incredibly successful...but the dynamics changed and so it’s then about talking to them about compensation. We’re still in that process.”

I wont relax about the matter until either Norwich appoint a new manager or Malky pledges his future to Cardiff City.

Same here Gav, maybe the fact that Malky has signed a contract for 5 years will put Norwich off. it will be hefty compo for us if they do want him, given the Fact that Liverpool paid big to get Brendon .

I thought ICWales don't like people copying and pasting from their site.
They would rather posting a link.

Who said? I suppose they don't take most of their info from this forum and post it in the echo either then! Oh, and I don't see them complaining about Carl's saturday column in their sports section either!!

He'll be gone, if not during the summer then the next season. He'll get fed up of broken Malaysian promises and the fans have already made sure he won't be getting much to spend this season after the Malaysians pull the plug on the £100 million investment project following the re-branding fiasco.

It's a shame, he's done us proud this season and he deserves more than he's going to be given next season.

Nail on the head if he goes then there's no cash.

How have the fans made sure that we have no money?
We've never been asked anything - just people reacting for and against a leak about re-branding.
One flash point with nothing official announced and they pull out?
Got some fuckin back bone then aint they
Bet the Venkys of Blackburn are rolling around laughing.

if Malky goes - its down to him and no-one else.
Highly likely it will be linked to cash but if he has feelings then even him going aint a true reflecton of us having some, none or loads of cash.

All i have seen is a large wage bill go after DJ's loan players and out of contracts went and a small amount spent to replace a full squad.
We've been linked to bids than never came off and are looking mainly for free transfers at the moment.

I part supported the re-branding (not red, not dragon, not badge) but a need to be offered what the deal was and compromise to an amicable solution going forward.
All i've heared are scare stories and a TG statement but nothing official on what the plans are - only to be told that a supposed 100 million may be pulled by the honourable VT.
The same honourable person that has kept us in the dark festering and wondering since the poisonous flashpoint.

To me - the smoke and mirrors will influence Malky but ultimately - if he wants to go - he will go.
