The story i have been told is that the club would not provide anywhere near the funds needed for Norwich to compete at the level Paul Lambert was looking for.Now this wasn't just providing money to buy new players, it was also a case of not offering improved terms that were attractive to the players out of or coming to the end of their contracts, and there will be a few Norwich players wanting away.
Now as a manager, Paul Lambert would know his squads ability and that more than likely they would struggle in the Premiership without attracting new players and definitely not without some want away stars.
Now looking at it from the club's point of view, going up to the Premiership without increasing the costs massively, would be seen as good business, because even relegation in the first year would bring parachute payments that would set them up and be paid for three years.
But Paul Lambert would be switched on enough to know he would be the scapegoat for failure in the fans eyes and this would lead possibly to getting him sacked.
Paul Lambert is close friends with Malky and I'm sure Malky will be well aware of the constraints that would be placed on him.
So hopefully, Malky wont be tempted, and at the end of the day even though Norwich are in the Prem this season, would you really view them as a much bigger club than Cardiff.
The situation with Brendan is so different, and who can blame him or Malky for that mater if an offer like that from what is seen as one of the bigger clubs came along.
Loyalty as got to be a two way think and every manager knows that there would be no loyalty from the club o the fans if results don't go the right way.

Totally agree....Malky would be a fool to jump ship (again). He needs to make his mark as a manager at this point of his career.

They are in the Prem, with a better squad of players, less debt, more income, and historically have far bigger gates than us and also better league position than us.
Over to you.

Yes they are in the Prem, but for how much longer? Possessing a better squad, filling their ground, owing less money, and generating more income are all a result of being in the Premier League. If we were in their place we'd have all those good things.
And I'd say we're a bigger club.

They averaged 26k in league one.

Get your facts right (Polo). Norwich best crowd in their all seater. stadium is 26,680 v Newcastle December 10th 2011 and we have had bigger gates than them in our history. Our average gates has been 23,000 last season thats hardly a vast diference ! Also we have had huge crowds in our history ! Over to you "Mr negative

In all fairness to Norwich, they have loads going for them, supporters who actually own the club and a good cook at that, great loyal support whatever division, but have you been to Norwich there f**k all else to do there besides watching football and pointing at the moon.
The problem as I see it is they will never have the potential to be a massive club, they simply haven't got the fan base to warrant it.
They will work within their budget and they wont gamble, hence they will yoyo but not go out of business, safe but boring

far more potential here at Cardiff, and we can just hope one day we live up to it.

Will our potential be eroded though the longer Swansea stay at the top level ?
Haven't noticed the difference here in Caerphilly, but wonder what its like in the schools in the Bridgend, Cynon Valley, Port Talbot, Merthyr and Rhonnda areas ? for us to be a big club we'll need big support form those areas (maybe not so crucial that we go as far West as PT) where 1/3 of our catchment area is .

but just look where Norwich is, its either them or Ipswich not much choice is there, and if you dont follow football you would be into turnip munching up there

Norwich, like Derby and a few other clubs have big support baed on tapping into the 'family day out' thing. We've only started scraping the surface, and allied with our new ground have doubled our gates in the last 5/6 years.
Norwich's support is excellent, they are a club who I admire greatly, but the potential is there for us to at least match if not surpass that ......................one day

So where are my facts wrong mungo? They do have better gates than us?
When was the last time we had a better average?
We couldnt even sell out a play off semi.
Its not negative, its realism.

I hope our owners are as sensible as the Norwich ones if we ever get promoted.
