People with Union Jack flags out in Wales…..

Fri Jun 01, 2012 9:48 pm

Obviously are a little too thick to realise still that Wales is not represented by this flag……….it's the equivalent of people in Sweden flying Italian flags or people in South Africa flying Norwegian flags. …..

Union Jack flag??…..DIM DIOLCH.

Absolutely - just to enlighten Maesteg Blue :

The name Windsor was only used from 1917 onwards :

The House of Windsor is the royal house of the Commonwealth realms. It was founded by King George V by royal proclamation on the 17 July 1917, when he changed the name of his family from the German Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (a branch of the House of Wettin) to the English Windsor, due to the anti-German sentiment in the United Kingdom during World War I. Currently, the most prominent member of the House of Windsor is Queen Elizabeth II, the reigning monarch of the Commonwealth realms.

I am proud to call myself a Republican and will have nothing to do with this jubilee celebration.

People get too hung up over this family line thing. It's the way it worked back in the day. Kings conquered other kings. Half of us probably have lines back to William the conqueror. We are a mixed bag of heritage so get over it.

As for this welsh not British thing, how many of you can actually speak welsh? Know the anthem in welsh? Know what it means? So many passionate welsh out that can't be arsed to learn the language, a countries strongest identity

I see myself more as a Celt than Welsh, but I can speak the language and know all the words to the anthem (and understand what they all mean).

I'm not particularly nationalistic though, but am a dyed in the wool Republican, and would be in whatever country I happened to be born.

I just found it hilarious when Maesteg Blue said Queen Liz was "British to the core" in another thread, then refused to answer all the posts that outlined that was a ridiculous thing to say.

so, on that logic, adding "to the core" didn't mean anything?

Appreciate your view but I'm still not sure what British is anyway. History is full of other nations ruling so in effect we like most countries are a hybrid of many blood lines
