WEDNESDAY could be poised to clinch a signing within the next 24 hours., but Dave Jones has ruled out a move for Cardiff left-back Lee Naylor.
The 32-year-old former Wolves defender has been the latest player to be linked with the Owls.
He played under Jones at Molineux and was signed by him for Cardiff, but has been released by the Bluebirds.
Jones is looking elsewhere as he bids to strengthen his squad and is trying to keep his manoeuvres under wraps.
Derby striker Chris Maguire, Reading winger Michail Antonio and Portuguese midfield player Diogo Amado have been under the spotlight this week, with keeper Chris Kirkland and right-back Kieran Lee so far the confirmed new arrivals.
Club doctor Richard Higgins, who works for the Owls part-time and is England Under-21s’ medic, has been chosen as doctor to the GB team for the Olympics.
He said: “Working with England is a great honour, and to be chosen for the Olympic job is a huge honour. Potentially we have some high-profile, experienced players in the team and some up-and-coming players, and potentially a great squad that could definitely be in with a chance of winning it.”
The Football League chairmen’s annual conference in Portugal - attended by Milan Mandaric - has voted to back proposals y Exeter City chairman Edward Chorlton to encourage sportsmanship and curb diving, time-wasting and feigning injury.
