Some decent players are being released by the Premier League teams. It will be interesting to see if City make a move for any of them. Ambition or not ?

I reckon fuller would smash this league. Wouldnt mind seeing Klasnic here eaither

Danny Murphy is the standout there for us to be honest. He is the type to drop down a level for sure

IMO, Klasnic is a PREM player. He'd be one heck of a signing if we could pull him off, he'll prolly end up at wigan.

Klasnic is much better than Fuller.

Agreed, but I'd happily take both.

I never though I'd see the day when I actually agree with you, Murphy would be a class addition to the squad! Buzsaky would also be a quality signing as well.

Keep agreeing with me young man, the older generations have proved time and time again to be right about this club
Danny Murphy is a better version of Mcphail in the experienced midfielder department. He is not the best on that list but i'm not a plastic tw*t who thinks Cardiff have the pick of the bunch
Fri Jun 01, 2012 4:31 pm
Theres a few i be happy with.
Fri Jun 01, 2012 4:49 pm
I hope Swansea sign Danny Sh*ttu from QPR - Name perfectly describes them.
Fri Jun 01, 2012 5:03 pm
All those mentioning big names, dont forget their wages will make them unrealistic.
Murphy and the like are out of our range tbqh
I would take Gai Assaulin, Kadar, Clint hill, Hoyte and Guthrie

shocked guthrie was released, like to have him here, tchioyi from west brom might be a decent punt, shocked with a lot of players on that list to be fair

He would be a good midfield partner for Aron Gunnarsson

Hmm. Too similar I feel but Murphy needs to play every game for at least the first two seasons. Then he would play the perfect Mcphail role.

One of Murphy, Guthrie or Andrews alongside Gunarsson and Whittingham would be great I reckon, but maybe they are too similar. Who would you get for now to add more defensive steel in midfield or sit deeper in the 'McPhail role'?

I heard he is after El-Hadj Diouf, would be a typical DJ signing, old with big wages and huge ego. Heard a few weeks back they were interested in Klasnic, if a Championship club gets him he'd be an amazing signing.

I can't believe some of the names on that list. Obviously we have no chance of signing some of these as they are Premiership players and they've rejected contract extensions, putting them on the free transfer list. Obviously we're not going to be able to sign Didier Drogba on a free. However, there are a lot of good players released who have fallen out of favour at Premiership clubs and players who have been released from relegated Premiership clubs, probably because their wages would be impossible to pay in the Championship. Unfortunately, it seems some of these players are already in talks with Premiership clubs, Carlos Cueller for example is holding talks with Sunderland. However, I would love us to go for these players and I think there's a very realistic chance we can sign them:
Defenders:
Ryan Nelson - only made 5 appearances for Tottenham since joining them in January. He is an outstanding centre back and a natural born leader. Unfortunately, I can see him rejoining Sam Allardyce at West Ham, but at 34, he may just want to play regular games. Out of all the available defenders, I would make Nelson my number one target and offer him 20k a week. He would be worth it on a free, I think he's that good!
Gretar Steinsson - Bolton have chosen not to offer him a new deal. He's 30, so still a good age and has been a good consistant performer in the Premiership for many seasons. He's probably still too good to drop down to our level, but hopefully Gunnarsson can have a word with him. He's 6 foot 2 and has a great engine. I feel the signings of Steinsson and Nelson would really give us a solid, no nonsense defence who will take no prisoners.
Midfielders:
Danny Murphy - please, please go for him Malky! Fulham have released him, he's 35 but if we offer him a 2 year contract I honestly believe he would choose us over one year offers with his age. I would offer him 20k a week, I think he will stand out a mile at our level, he's such a clever player, he's absolute quality on the ball, he's just a fantastic footballer with a fantastic footballing brain. Paul Scholes made a difference for Man Utd last season, Murphy is a similar type of player and he would make just as big an impact for us as Scholes did for Man Utd last season. Murphy is also the best penalty taker I have ever seen, I feel we would absolutely run the midfield with Danny Murphy at the heart pulling the strings!
Gai Assulin - impressed on a spell on loan with Brighton last season and is exactly the type of player we need. Assulin on his game can be a creative genius, I remember watching him in a friendly for Barcelona years ago in the Emirates Cup friendly tournament and he is a similar player to Messi. Obviously he's not as good as Messi, but he possesses the pace, dribbling and inventiveness to create and unlock defences. Why try spending millions on on likes of Matty Phillips when we could sign Assulin on a free?
Akos Buszaky - the majority of us know about Buszaky, he's played against us enough times. Buszaky is perhaps not good enough to perform well consistantly at Premiership level, but at our level he has proven to be a very good player. Whittingham aside, we don't really have any good attacking midfielders, Buszaky loves to break forward from midfield and can hit one hell of a long shot. He would be ideal just behind the striker in our 4-4-1-1 system. I think on a free, Buszaky would definitely be worth adding to our squad.
Keith Andrews - a quality experienced midfielder who's been there and done it at every level. Would add further experience and has a brilliant footballing brain. If we had Keith Andrews and Danny Murphy in our midfield, we would dominate the majority of midfields in our league. Andrew has a box to box engine whilst Murphy could take over McPhail's role of pulling the strings and dictating the game, it would be a dream partnership in my opinion.
Somen Tchoyi - has been released by West Brom but look at the wingers he was up against in Jerome Thomas, Chris Brunt and Graham Dorrans! Tchoyi scored a hat-trick away to Newcastle in the last game of the 2010-2011 season and he's another quality player who would give us some much needed pace. Tchoyi is very quick and can play on either wing. He's also 6 foot 3, so possesses a lot of power too!
Strikers:
Andy Johnson - now 31 but still a nuisance for defenders and has the one asset we are sorely lacking - pace! He's been a quality performer for years but Fulham have decided to release him. He's currently very interested in a switch to the UAE. But I think he would definitely be worth paying big wages for because I feel he will be a different class at our level, defenders won't be ble to handle his work rate, movement and pace.
Ricardo Fuller - like many other posters, I would love to see us sign him. He's pacey, tricky, strong and can create something out of nothing. Fuller would offer something different, defenders just don't know what he's going to do. In a tight game, Fuller can easily come up with that bit of individual brilliance that would be the difference. The only downside is his injuries and like Bellamy with his knee, there would be question marks if he could sustain 46 plus games in a season. But even if he's unable to play every game, Fuller could still come off the bench and change things. On a free a player of this quality is too good to not go for.

Isn't Peter Løvenkrands on the list and didn't we want to sign him before?
Whats your views on him still?
