KYLE LAFFERTY

Thu May 31, 2012 5:06 pm

Some Twitter chat claiming Huddersfield are looking to bring in Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty for £575k.

£575k after signing for Rangers (from Burnley) back in 2008 for £3.25m.

An absolute bargain for a 24 year-old 6ft 5in striker who can score goals. 31 in 104 for Rangers - not mind blowing, but decent. We need a target man desperately, and at that price, I wouldn't mind seeing Lafferty here.

Thoughts?

Soccerbase has him at 6ft 3.

Anyhoo, let's look at the stats.

Played in Championship before, for Burnley.

83 appearances with with 10 goals. Scored 3 in 9 when on loan. At Darlington.

As you said, 31 in 104 for Rangers, in a piss poor league. For comparison, where's the goal machine that was Kris Boyd right now?

We can do a lot better than Lafferty.

EDIT: Oh, and it bears pointing out that last season he got the same number of yellow cards as goals - seven.

10 goals in 83 appearances for Burnley. I'd make a guess and say that 70% of those appearances came from the bench as he was a youngster.

Also: Ross McCormack arrived from that "piss poor league" after scoring 10 in 74 for Motherwell. Not exactly a fantastic record, but he turned out to be a pretty decent signing. The majority of City fans would like to see him back, after all.

;)

Ross played 48 games in the league for Motherwell, not 74. He also played wide rather than up front. Apples, oranges.

He's a stroppy, ill-disciplined, prima donna with minimal ability and an inflated ego.

(Would have suited Dave Jones' squad)

He is awful

dont want him anywhere near Cardiff, he'd want big money and would give a crap return

Despite being a huge Rangers fan,he is not popular with the gers fans, they question both his abilty and temprement, also rumoured to be trouble off the pitch.

I was amazed at Sonny Aluko's record this season, he has always had a lot of pace but scored a lot of goals this year and looked technically better than I thought he was. Must be cheap or free surely?
