Norwich fans weigh up their options.

Thu May 31, 2012 1:59 pm

A lot of Norwich fans think Malky would be a great replacement for Lambert but not all. If he did leave it would obviously be a big blow. If the shit does hit the fan who would we then get to replace him? Just wondered if anybody had considered it. As you can see below the Norwich fans are already weighing up their options. Malky would certainly have caught a fair bit of attention from last season. Who knows this could give Tan a shove into giving Malky what he wants and actually help us into the prem. Any thoughts on this?

Malky is only 5th favourite on here.

Malky Mackay
Apparently we will target Malky should Lambert leave, I would be happy with him as a replacement. Knows the club, was a fan favourite here is young and has done well. Play-offs and league cup final in first year at Cardiff is very good! Houghton is also admired and would be second choice.re: Next Manager...
If PL does move on, when ever that maybe, he will clearly be a hard act to follow.

But why not discuss possible replacements whilst hoping it wont happen...

My view is that whoever it is MUST have Premier League experience, in particular in managing a club of our size..

Alan Curbishly would be my overwhelming first choice...BUT, I soemhow think he wants a "bigger" club than City if he is to get off his backside in the tv studio back into club management.

Despite knowing this maybe unpopular...

Steve Bruce would fit us nicely and I'm sure would do a good job and he has a decent personality which would make a change, if you know what I mean.

third choice...

let me think about it...perhaps Mick McCarthy...always liked him and I actually think he would have got Wolves closer to staying up than they did in the end, he's been there and got the t-shirt, which will be crucial in that difficult second season.

OTBC with PL

I agree we have to be realistic about this, although I'm hoping the board give Lambert a big wage increase and a decent transfer kitty which he deserves regardless of interest from other clubs.
Hopefully a call to Martin O'Neill will persuade him Villa isn't a bed of roses and he may want to wait for a better opportunity which will surely come his way if he continues to be successful with us.
That said I don't think premiership experience is vital, if there is one thing we have learned from this year it's that hunger and ability count for more! The whole managerial merry-go-round of 'premiership' managers (e.g. Steve Bruce) would be a step back.
Number 1 choice for me... Malky! looks like he will be a top manager, great motivator, and would have the fans on his side from day one. Don't forget he nearly won the Carling Cup and still took Cardiff to the play offs with a much changed squad from last year so why not?re: Next Manager...
Well let me start by saying that I hope it does not happen. We really need Lambert for at least another season, preferbaly two.

If we are going to have to change the management team my top 4 preferences would be:-

1. Alan Curbishley - has the experience and has done very well with financially constrained teams.

2. Roberto de Matteo - I have been impressed by his work at Chelsea and he was unfairly given the chop at WBA.

3. Gus Poyet - done a very good job at Brighton and has played at the top level as has both de Matteo.

4. Roberto Martinez - if Lambert goes then he might come to us and would do better than at Wigan and of course he created the stylish play that Swansea have become famous for.

No to Mcleish, or anyone else who has lead their team to disaster.
