I don't really think we need any defenders really. Kev, Hudson, Turner, Taylor, with Darcy as back up is good enough for me
Tue May 29, 2012 1:58 pm
We have a small squad though, it's good for the players to have some competition for their position
Tue May 29, 2012 1:59 pm
But we need a RB with a good delivery like Taylor, Blake and Kev don't have that i'm afraid.
I would not choose Keogh though.
Tue May 29, 2012 2:13 pm
I would like to see us getting rid of defenders that we don't use before adding to our tally
Tue May 29, 2012 2:14 pm
Yes our backline is f*cking shit mun

Well let's get rid of the wasted wages first. The likes of Gerrard, Kienan, Naylor and so on should be shown the door before other defenders come in

Like the voters of the Gurnos did? Getting rid of wasted wages....
Tue May 29, 2012 2:26 pm
If kev and taylor both get injured we only have darcy to cover them. Need more fullbacks after we released quinn and naylor

Not really as the area has financially benefited from my inclusion.

But at 52K a year was it really worth it? Why did they vote you out then? You come on here playing the billy big balls politician when none of us could give a terry toss about what you have to say.
Merthyr Town you were back in the day.

I wish it was 52k per year. Lol
You'd have to ask them that question and to be honest I'm glad I'm out of it as i can start earning proper money again

Cool beans!

Our defence of McNaughton, Hudson, Turner and Taylor is more than good enough, but McNaughton needs competition. If this guy is predominantly a right full-back but can also play in the middle then all the better, really!

I think Naylor and Quinn have already been released.
I personally would like to see a quality RB come in for comp with Kev. This leaves kev and Blake to use as cover/ccompitirion across the back line.
I'd then like to see Keinan and Gerrard leave and one quality CB to come in. I'm pretty sure Keinan said on twitter he has said his goodbyes so clearly he doesn't plan on returning.

I think we probably need a back-up LB as well. Perhaps a young player instead of one like Naylor who's coming to the end of his career.

Maybe, it just seems a waste having back up players at both LB & RB as they are hardly used.
Taylor is pretty fit but if he did get injured Kev can cover for a while.

Yeah, it can prove rather wasteful. I ought to admit that I felt a bit sorry for Lee Naylor at times; he basically spent the whole season in the stands, which must have been pretty demoralising. And I've always thought Paul Quinn was a good right-back. His greatest spell in the shirt was probably the second half of the 10/11 season which began when he appeared from nowhere to start that Leeds home game. One game that particularly stands out is the QPR home game. He was up against Tommy Smith (quality player for the Championship, remember), and he was brilliant. Didn't put a foot wrong. Sad to see him go, but probably for the best.
Taylor played virtually every game last season, didn't he? Going by last season, he's rarely injured so I agree, we have adequate back-up already. Acquiring a young player with potential wouldn't be the worst thing though, and it certainly doesn't do any harm for a player to have competition. On that note, I see that Jon Meades has been released. Wasn't he a LB? Not sure he would've been good enough, but it just came to me that we've let go of him.
Tue May 29, 2012 5:23 pm
Not including Gerrard and Keinan. We have only 5 senior defenders in our Squad - Taylor, Hudson, Turner, Kev and Darcy.
We really do need cover.
Most of the reason we looked so knackered at the end of the season was because we had to use the same players over and over again.
Tue May 29, 2012 5:24 pm
Yeah I agree, I always liked Quinn and didn't dislike Naylor as much as others.
Problem was Taylor was well ahead of naylor and we had three capable RB's in Kev, Darcy and Quinn so it made it very tough.
A young left back for the academy can do no harm at all but that should be the case in all positions ideally.
Tue May 29, 2012 5:54 pm
Keogh would be a good signing. I think it would be worth getting a natural LB for cover or competition, Rhoys Wiggins would be a good shout would be hard to get though
Tue May 29, 2012 6:04 pm
I would buy at least one defender preferably a RB because poor Kev will be run out half way through the season
Pacey Wingers and a Striker is a must!

I always said we needed a new CB, Gerrard doesn't cut it
Tue May 29, 2012 8:21 pm
It's pretty certain a new CB will come in, they will also do everything they can to lose Keinan and Gerrard

Naylor has gone.Where have you been
Tue May 29, 2012 8:25 pm
He would be a good signing who would cover central defence as well
Tue May 29, 2012 8:26 pm
yes because McNaughton is toss and Blake cant play RB effectively.
And a LB too. Then we'll be alright in defence
Tue May 29, 2012 8:33 pm
for leftback joe mattock i think he as been released he will be good cover
