All this stuff about shirt sales

Mon May 28, 2012 2:55 pm

due to us not knowing what colour we are playing in next season surely out sales have dropped to possibly the lowest sale figures ever recorded in May..?

well the threat I received yesterday because of my anti-red stance has pushed me into continuing the support the stay-blue campaign.

Well its certainly not from me, as I will always be BLUE.

And what ever colour you chose is your choice.

That's the way I remember it. My daughter always has a new shirt in August.

Re: All this stuff about shirt sales

Mon May 28, 2012 3:14 pm

So if it is August doesn't that harm the club as a business because surely if they were brought out much earlier then the profit made from them would help cover outgoings in pre-season which cant be covered by gate receipts..?

Also many clubs use the earlist friendlies possible to help market new shirts for the forthcoming season.

Yes, never knew why it took so long to release the shirts.
For as long as I can remember the shirts have always come out very late.
It did improve the last couple of years.

With the potential kit changes etc et it's obvious taken longer this summer.

Luke, we were told that the shirts (red & blue) were already in production even before the rebranding proposals surfaced. The fact that we are now playing in Blue at home next season, doesn't or shouldn't slow down the release date. Cardiff have always been one of the last clubs in the division to release its shirts as you mentioned, and to me is unprofessional. I'm pretty sure at least half of our stadiums capacity would buy next seasons jersey if it was released BEFORE the beginning of august! which in general sales terms could bring in a boosted half million quid revenue? and with one or two marquee transfer signings ie. Bellamy could quite easily reach almost an extra million quid. (figures are my estimates mind! so dont take that as gospel! )

Hasn't the badge changed though? It should now have a bluebird on it according to the official statement.

Shirts tend to come out a bit later when there is a major international tournament on - to do with the production etc.

Browny the whole situation is eerily similar to your election campaign...

No one can quite work out if your red or blue, it's all just one big mess

Re: All this stuff about shirt sales

We have always had a problem with releasing our shirts. After so many wars of doing it I'm sure the club would have had a decent plan of an early release date and promo behind it. Most teams release a photo of their strip before the last game of the season. We usually do it the last week before the first game of the next season!!

Re: All this stuff about shirt sales

suprised it takes as long as it does for them to supply kit as from what i have read they are coming from stock puma designs and not bespoke. If it ws a bespoke kit you could order it and expect it to be ready in 2 months even allowing for volume 2.5 months seems either puma or the club are slow to release the shirts.

good post merlin and i agree the thing is i buy two blue ones for me and my lad in august again but i mean like you said its unprofessional when it comes to making money and makes sence in every way to get them out early as poss. But i really carnt see any marquee signings to sell more tbh. I smell another year of frees and the odd transfer fee unless the owners do what they want with the rebrand and say f**k the fans voices then they will sign whatever they can get i suppose to fill seats/sell merchandise :ayatollah:

Black and blue ? nah don't think so as I've come out about to go back into the industry where I first made my money. So in my book I had a good 52k in earnings from it but time to make some serious money once again.

All us old heads were against it from the start, foreigners shouldn't be allowed to OWN OUR football clubs. The Malaysians won't go away with out a fight, maybe we should get you to run a campaign on the Malaysians behalf, they will surely sell up then :old:

I think Annis and Carl seen the red shirt with the dragon badge on (with no bluebird. If this was already planned it would take time for them to change the badge to one with a bluebird on.
