if we let them change the badge then ......

Sat May 26, 2012 8:54 pm

if we let them change the badge, and the club red, how long before they realise some fans will do anything for a glimpse of glory and a quick penny.

i can honestly seeing if they are allowed to change it, then they might want to "rebrand" the name

now i started watching cardiff in the old division 3 (league two) . i didnt pick them cause they had money (we had nothing)
i didnt pick them because i liked the colour blue, i picked them because i wanted a team that was mine, i wanted a team that i knew one day could become something. not a team that was winning everything.

now if we allow the changes of colour and badges ect, then what has all the pain soo far been for,

in years to come, they will ask, where was you when they became "redarmy, and the dragons" ,, why son, i was saying lets do it, because they dangled a few pennies in my face.

pathetic.....if i wanted a RED team with £100m investment i would of supported united, liverpool, ........... i am one of the " i will no longer return" people. how ridiculas does it sound shouting BLUEBIRDS to a red team, in a red stadium.

then what, everytime a rich man dangles some cash you bend over backwards.

well we will get prem football so f**k it, lets change the club again.

but dont worry because atleast you seen the club have a few games against a big side.

honestly if i was annis, i would phone sam, and tell sam to tell langstone to reject any undercut offer they make to pay off the debt unless the club stays entirely blue, its a no lose situation for them see, they get paid no matter what and sam might win over some of the fans who are against him

Great post bluebird04 very well put. City Fans of even ten years ago would not of put up with this. Sam tried it and fan pressure put a stop to it. Yes the badge was redesigned but it still had a BLUEBIRD on it.
Sam realised the feelings of the fans and he shelved it, but the Malaysians want a 1000% rebranding and if fans can't see that then that's sad, but a lot of them can but don't care because deep down they are jealous of the jacks

They can't change the name. why is this still brought up?

Because VT is 'silly' rich and influential, and everyone knows that money and power talks within the FA, so if the rules could be changed to prevent the changing of a club name, then with the thought of major marketing in Asia and the waft of a few pennies up their noses they could quite easily be convinced to change the ruling back....

Show me where it says you can not do this, not one person has provided proof you carnt change it, except talk about MKDONS  but when Wimbledon went to the wall MKDONS come along only because wimbledon went bust even now we have afc wimbledon , if the company is still afloat and trading they can change there name in any business to anything they like not just football im sure.

Amazing I wonder if you would have the same attitude if it was your £10-24m at stake? It is so easy gamble with someone else's money and I don't believe for one minute Sam Hammam/Langston would be willing to do that.

As for the certainty that Sam will be paid I think you need to consider that the ONLY way Sam/Langston will be paid is if VT stumps up the cash. So pissing off VT with that idea doesn't exactly seem to be the brightest idea in the box, as far as Sam Hammam/Langston are concerned.

So because you don't like the answer to your question you won't accept it?

The FA is a poorly run organisation, no doubt and it has a track record of waiting for a problem the happen, then working out how to stop that happening again.

John Terry - Capello - Captain etc controversy for example. Now the FA is working on a code of conduct for players. Why the hell didn't they have one already? Same with Wimbledon, they had no rules in place to stop all that happened happening. Now they do.

A name change would be a nightmare commercially locally and nationwide. If it happens to us it could happen to any club. That's every supporter club in the country now pissed off and you can take it from there. Plus locally attendances would plummet (and that includes me).

As for the rest of the changes, too many people think the proposed changes are final and we could never go back. If in four years or five years it all turns and we have quietly but progressively pushed to change back and we are successful who's going to care? There are other ways.

Spot on. Take the investment and move on, we can always go back to blue, we may never get the opportunity of investment like this again.

And failed as there was a backlash, now that we're over run by the happy clappies, rich men get away with anything they want. Feckin pathetic.

he failed because he had no money to back up his plans! if remember rightly he put in 3mil thats it! and some how we owe langstone aka sam 10mil?? what does that tell you???? vt has money influence so bette!r position to proceed simples

Re: if we let them change the badge then ......

first of all.

1) i am not a sam fan btw, and i know he tried to change the club but he failed. i was just clearly stating by doing what i said, he might turn some of the hate, to neutrality to him.

2) if what carl says is true then, sam is willing to accept a loss on the langstone cash thingy. so lets say, the debt is £1, he knows we will only offer 70p, and he would accept, if he says he wont accpet if they change the club blah blah, he will only accept the £1. there for its money he wont lose, either way, its a no lose situation for him.

3) what i believe the MKDONS thing for the FA was, wimbledon went out of business, then club then reformed and rebranded as MKDONS, new stadium, new name new everything, and started in League one, in wimbledons place, while AFC Wimbledon restarted, i think the fa said after that, no longer can a new team automatically take place within the football league in place of a old team.

4) as for those who say, its £millions coming in, what maybe next, new stadium name, ect, a new badge, new colour will all lead to new identity and the loss of Cardiff City Bluebirds, and you would take all that for some money, YES i know it would financially cripple us, sale of players, loss of staff, sale of stadium ect would occur, drop out of the championship and would really be playing youth players, BUT if that where to happen, i highly doubt we would see a majority of the so called "rebrand now i want to see cash" fans watching us in division 3.

this is just like, saying YES THE RELIGION IS STILL CALLED CHRISTIANITY, BUT WE'RE CHANGING THE CROSSTO ARABIC WORDING, AND OUR CHRUCH WILL NOW BECOME A MOSQUE, BUT CHRISITIANITY WILL RECIEVE HIGHER DONATIONS EACH WEEK, (THIS IS NOT MEANT TO CAUSE OFFENCE WITH ANY RELIGOUS BELIFS OR BACKROUNDS, I JUST USED THIS AS AN EXAMPLE)
