Madness in November

Anyone off this forum going? Just got my tickets bit steep £40 plus 
but i saw them in the CIA a few years back and they were absolutely brilliant it's on a Friday so i think half a days holiday and afternoon in town for a few pre concert beers already looking forward to it must dig my fez out

I saw them in the Top Rank on Queen Street, Cardiff in June 1980. I haven't fancied seeing them again, but I saw The Specials in the CIA in November 2009 and they were superb. Mind you, I didn't see The Specials back in the day and I'd always wanted to see them.
When I saw Madness in their heyday, it was a hell of a night, so I hope they can still match that, for the sake of those who are going.

I think I paid £3.00. It wasn't the tour you mentioned, though. I think that was late '79 or early '80.
Prices now are high because the tours are moneyspinners, compared to those days when they were just used to promote albums.

Yep, it was all very different then for sure. The Top Rank was awesome with two or three bands on most nights plus you had the Capitol, Students Union, Sophia Gardens plus the smaller clubs like Granny's and Grass Roots, so Cardiff had a really thriving music scene.
