Southampton make fresh £6.5m move for Burnley striker Rodriguez

Southampton have launched a £6.5million bid for Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez.
The Premier League newcomers had a £4.5m bid for the Clarets' top scorer turned down last summer.

I'm not really that fussed on Rodriguez anyway and was quite suprised to see him included in the Championship team of the season despite his 20 odd goals this season. I'd personally rather his strike partner Charlie Austin or Sam Vokes to play alongside Miller/Mason up front. Rodriguez is too similar to what we've already got. Should get Troy Deeney in my opinion, a good strong physical striker who cost quite a bit less than 5.5m

Theres no need to wait because the quote you put of mine is how it is, maybe thats doom and gloom in some peoples eyes but i call it truth

It's pre season can't at least get some excitment before the doom sayers come out

Yeah of course, those that are expecting big things to happen regarding signings are in for disappointment. I just hate all this hype and bollocks that comes from the club and media.

I dont think we need to spend big, aslong as you have the right chemistry and coaching aka Blackpool & Swansea.

Thing is ,when you go after players of this profile we'll always be competing with the bottom half of the prem.What ever club he goes to he's likely to get a 4 year deal @ 20k pw and thats after paying upwards of 7m-Not our league really is it.

Ok Id like to think you right but after The Malaysians saying that they want to get back to realistic playing wage and the club running on a tight budget I cant help but to feel sceptical. I suppose thats the nature of the beast following City.
