O/T Football Manager 2012

Thu May 24, 2012 8:19 pm

Hey basically just started playing this game, decided to start at Torquay and work my way up to manage Cardiff. Ive been excellent all season around the play offs but since January just keep losing games and moral is slowly going down leading to losing more games. Just wondering if anyones got any tips for me to be able to lift the players and carry on with good form? Thanks :ayatollah:

I tend to yell at my players aggressively every chance I get.

I also talk to them in person and criticise their passing or shooting.

If that fails tell them their conduct in training has not been good enough.

On a serious note though try rotating the players a bit more, if your striker's stopped scoring goals try signing one on loan from another club. Also make sure you have your players set to their optimum roles. It's no good setting Earnie as a target man or Whitts as a Ball Winning Midfielder.

I'm having the same problem as Torquay. At the beginning of the season I was always up there, even went into first place. Then I lost a game when O'Kane, Howe and Stevens got injured/suspended and now the moral is low as shit and i'm slipping out of the play-offs.
If I were you I'd go defensive for a game or two and try not to lose, this usually helps with moral. Then if your players are rested go on an attack and get a win. Usually gets all rosey from there.

Also if you have the funds sign Adam Reach from Middlesbrough reserves. I got him on loan and he's awesome at league 2, best player by fan. He's a quick winger good at crossing. Donaldson from Newcastle reserves is also a good striker, good finisher

What are your training plans like? Youth system etc? The game is so indepth its unreal.

When I start a season with a new club, I instantly on the fist game day sort out the training for each player, play off their strengths, then I set their training level to very high in tactics.
My preferred tactic is 4-2-3-1
That is for both home away and a close down system. I just change my shouts so that I tell the players to do different things for each tactic.
Main thing for me is to start the team training very high for a new club, then lower them down to average at christmas. Then towards the end of the season up their training focus to high again so they work as a team again.

Rotate the team if someone is having a bad run as they often need a rest.

Really focus on youth though. I tend to sign all players to a full contract once they are able, and shove them in reserves despite being 17. Get them on an adult training and they will do will.

It took me two seasons to get auto with Cardiff, that was mostly with youth players that I had built up, and most were on less than £1000 a week. Lost the CC final against Spurs as I had Heaton run up for a corner. But won the FA cup against Derby.

I tend to abandon my youth and just slowly bankrupt the club signing players. In fact I've only ever had one youth player make the grade for me and that was this season.

I have found building a team of youth players brings the club into the black and also make a very good team. Tommy o Sullivan scored 45 goals!!!! Over all comps in one season, he wasn't even the main striker, I had him sat behind my main striker. He cuppled well with Harris on right wing.

My Cardiff would be in the black.

But a certain well known City director who's the Chairman at this point in my save decided to take money out opf the club when we were making a massive profit.

Do you have anything at the moment? It doesn't take much to run the game as most is a point and click screen.

Aslong as you don't have too many leagues put on it should run on anything.

I have too many leagues on mine so it runs slowly but I'm planning to remove everything but English leagues . Will move like a rocket then.

Training is pretty important as well as youth players. I had a decent tottenham side before my laptop packed in. Had a good youth striker come through the system. Can't remember his name but check out the Tottenham youth side, think his name starts with a C. Try getting him on loan.

low moral?
organise a reserve friendly with a blue square north/south team put your worst players moral wise into the team and do a demolition job on the opposition, best to do this mid week or if you have a bye week due to cup competitions.
