Welsh Players Worth Looking At This Summer

Thu May 24, 2012 9:00 am

Have said on here many times, if we had 11 Englishmen in our team but we have great success then success is all that matters, BUT it does niggle me that our Welsh representatives at National, U21 and below is very poor, as the capital city team.

Obviously not knowing the ins and outs of what exactly is Malkys budget, heres some Welsh players I would like to see wearing the BLUE of Cardiff City and may be worth a look this summer. Some obviously more realistic than others depending on the 'war chest' but would love to see Joe back, Eardley always solid for club despite his Dublin nightmare for Wales, Morison is out of favour and have always liked the look of David Edwards.

Neil Eardley
Adam Matthews
James Collins
Chris Gunter
David Edwards
Joe Ledley
Jon Williams
Sam Vokes
Steve Morison

Agreed!!!

Exactly the reason why I raised the point, all this rebranding as Welsh Dragons AND NO WELSH PLAYERS

I believe Sam Vokes would be an ideal player for us in that list.

I do agree mostly however if you actually look at the current Welsh team there is a huge Cardiff connection within the team.

Ex-City players
Jason Brown
Chris Gunter
Adam Matthews
Danny Gabbidon
James Collins
Joe Ledley
Aaron Ramsey
Craig Bellamy

Players born in Cardiff
Gareth Bale
Ryan Giggs
Jermaine Easter
Adam Henley
David Cotterill

Plus you've got Earnshaw and Blake in the squad! Also don't forget Ben Turner could soon be playing for Wales aswell. Overall I don't think there's another city in Wales that can rival our contribution to the Welsh national team. Although our current team isn't dominated with Welsh players this is partly down to us generally being a 'selling club' for the past few years.
