Canal boat holiday o/t

A mate of mine has his milestone birthday of 35 coming soon (any excuse)

A few of the boys want to arrange a trip away. We have come up with canal boating

A mate of mine had a stag do on one and had a right laugh!!

Anyone been? Any advice? Where's best to go?

My days of Ibiza and magaluff are gone I think

I had my stag do on a canal boat last September, it was brilliant. Had 2 boats, one slept 12 in bunk beds, 1 slept 8, and went from Hilperton Marina to Bath. Took 2 days to get to Bath stopping off in all the pubs on the way, which there are loads. Just pull up outisde and in for a pint. Spent night outside a pub tied to a aquaduct. Parked up in Bath and night out in Bath and then came back in 1 day. Lovely sunny weekend so we spent most of the days sat on top on the boats crusing through lovely countryside with music on ipod huge speakers and loads of beer. Only 2 people fell in. We were dressed as Sailors though!

We were thinking of Brecon. Obviously looked loads on line but just want to here of any experiences!!

My Dad owned a cabin cruiser on the river Avon up at Tewkesbury when I was a teenager and I always loved the holidays on the river... The Avon was nice and we would often potter up to Stratford-Upon-Avon, which was a beautiful journey, made all the more pleasant by the large amount of pubs along the river that you could moor up at..... so a canal holiday would be a big from me....

done a bit of work for some1 who bought some land up at Stratford Upon Avon. put in a a decking/mooring for them as well as converting a shed in to living/kitchen area. nothing better than finishing work and spending summer nights sat on the river bank fishing/chilling/drinking watching the boats and barges going past. also had a small dinghy type boat with an outboard motor on that we used to buzz up n down the river on
