CARDIFF CITY are hoping to complete the signing of Peterborough goalkeeper Joe Lewis by the end of this week.
The Echo understands the 24-year-old will travel to the Welsh capital on Thursday or Friday to put pen to paper on a three-year deal. Lewis is available on a free transfer after his contract came to an end and is seen by Bluebirds’ boss Malky Mackay as the perfect replacement for Tom Heaton who departed the club last week.
Lewis is set to put pressure on first-choice Cardiff shot-stopper David Marshall.
The Scot, favoured by Mackay last campaign, is also due to ink a new contract this week which will commit him to Cardiff until 2016.
The 27-year-old tweeted: ‘Thanks for all messages on new contract. Really happy and looking forward to next few years.’

We have Parrish who is a Malkay signing who has not even sat on the bench as far as I know. He is now going to be relegated to third choice by us bringing in Lewis. He must know that Marshall is going to be our first choice, so what does it say about his mentality that he is happy to sit on the bench until required. People say he was called up by Capello as an indicator of his ability, but if he was that good, surely like Heaton he wouldn't want to be second choice.
From what I have seen of him Lewis is a good shot stopper but his distribution and command of his penalty box are very similar to Marshall - in other words poor at times. And if we need a keeper to replace Heaton, shouldn't Parrish get an opportunity? Otherwise, how is he ever going to get the experience needed to see if he is good enough to be a first choice keeper.

Joe Lewis will be a fab signing if we get him, especially on a free! I am sure he will be battling for the number one shirt and has pre season to impress! I will be delighted if we get him!
