Following the completion of the 2011/12 Championship season and in accordance with Football League rules, Cardiff City Football Club submitted its retain list to the League on Saturday 19th May.

As anticipated, we can now confirm that Tom Heaton heads a list of seven first-team professionals leaving Cardiff City Stadium this summer on expiration of their contracts.

Also departing the Club are Tom Heaton,Lee Naylor, Paul Quinn, Aaron Wildig, Jon Meades, Alex Evans and Jordan Santiago. Liam Lawrence has returned to parent club Portsmouth after completing his short-term loan spell.

The Club wishes to publicly thank each player for his contribution. We wish them the very best of luck in their future endeavours.

no real surprises alough I personally would have kept quinn because i think he's good defender and handy as he can play anywhere across the back 4

I reckon as soon as they can get a club to pay Gerrards and Earnies wages they both will def be next, but Earnies wage will be a big stumbling block.

Heard a rumour MK Dons fancy a loan move for Earnie maybe bullshit but I was told this the weekend. If it happens we probably will need to pay some of his wages but everything helps. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Really thought John Parkin would get released again there is a lot of money tied up there.

Spot on Castleblue, when you look at the wages tied up in the likes of Earnie, Parkin, Quinn and the others who haven't had a sniff this season it makes your head spin, with all due respect to them glad they are out the door or on the way out of it. Not their fault of course they just have no place under Malky.

Not as big a clear out as we were expecting tho gents??? Or is this just the tip of the iceberg as we will get an alot more aggressive clear out when MM gets his budget finalised!

Annis I agree about Gerrard and Earnie but don't forget Jon Parkin, he is on a very good wage at City and I know he wants to keep as much of his current wage as possible.

Probably the same for keinan and taiwo. In fairness to the players they are on good contracts because of dj and if I was in their situation I would want what I was entitled too. The club probably needs close on 2 million quid to get rid of earnie, gerrard, parkin, taiwo and keinan.

At least they're all assets to the club in money terms...........ah, feck. We wouldnt get 100 washers for the lot of them!

Cant help feeling for Earnie though, would have been a good 'fairytale' type return to the club if it went well. The re-signing certainly get everyone talking before Malkay arrived.

As for Taiwo....total lack of knowledge of the player before signing him. He can look back to that one big game of his (against us!) and see it as his big pay-day turning point!

When you consider that's 8 down plus potentially at least 4 more in Parkin, taiwo, keinan and gerrard, that's the same kind of turnover as last season. I'f malky can get some quality in like last season then things should be interesting. 24 players out in 2 summers represents huge change and a huge task for MM to get the blend right

Annis/Carl I heared a rumour after the West Ham 1st leg play-off match that Earnie had or was going to sign a deal with a Canadian club playing in the MLS, Vancouver Whitecaps I think? Do you know or have you heared anything regarding this?
