Giving up smoking - the easy way

Sun May 20, 2012 10:11 pm

I don't know how many members on here smoke and amongst them how many want to give up but thought I would share this with you lot.

I have smoked for 20 years , always wanted to give up but never been able to manage it. I honestly feel like i want to throttle someone if i havent had a cigarette for a few hours.

I tried the patches that everyone said were fab , they just gave me terrible pains wherever i stuck them.

I tried the chewing gum and that just tasted like shit.

I tried the inhilator thing and that just tasted of fish.

So was resigned to not having the will power or the tools to give up until i had a call from my brother.

He has given up using an electronic cigarette , being the person that i am and that my job involves hi-tech solutions I was decidedly dubious that this could ever work. I let him believe that this was a magic cure expecting him to fail spectacularly but it didnt happen.

So not wanting to miss the boat i decided to take the plunge and give it a go myself. After a bit of internet research as to what was the best kit to buy etc etc I oredered my own electronic cigarette and last monday it arrived.

I have to say its a strange sensation smoking one of these things but you quikly get used to it. I havent had a real cigarette in over a week and have dropped from high strength to medium strength in under a week , hoping to get to low in a week or so.

Its not like smoking a real cigarette although you get to blow out smoke and depending on flavour it can taste the same. I am using cherry flavour fluid this week and its rather nice. The reason I chose some flavoured fluids rather than tobacco was to disassociate the taste of tobacco with smoking the e-cig. I have a bottle of coffee fluid to try then am gonna order myself some more flavours.

Of all the methods I have tried to give up the dreaded fags not one has come close to being as sucessful as this and ifI can stick with it (and it hasnt been difficult this far) I can see me being cigarette free in a few weeks.

Just thought I would share this with the board and see if anyone has tried this sucessfully to give up smoking or just enjoys vaping as its a hell of a lot cheaper than smoking real fags. :)

I work at the airport so see a lot of people daily and the amount of people using these lately has increased massively in the last 2-3 months.

After looking into it I can see why a cheap pack of fags these days is £7 wehere as even a heavy smoker could use and e-cig for £20 month if you smoke less its a lot cheaper.

Ypu can buy 5 x 10ml bottles for just over £20 I have been doing this a week and allowing for spillages (trying to fill cartridges when piussed :) ) I havent used 10 ml.

Thanks, have tried the cold turkey method a few times and hasn't worked for me , stressful job , life etc always seems to win but have to be fair since using this I havent even thought about smoking a real cigarette and I reckon in a few wweks I wont be bothered with it at all.

I bought the 510 titan tank kit from totally wicked link below

http://www.totallywicked-eliquid.co.uk/ ... oduct.html

its not cheap but saying that neither is smoking and you will need some additional e-liquid but have to say its worth it. The link is for the black kit but they do it in white or silver which may be a bit more to your girlfriends liking :)

I have worked out that buying the kit and liquid will pay for itself if I dont smoke a normal cigarette for 2 weeks and I am over halfway there , I used to smoke about 4 packs a week for anyone smoking more they save more.

Hve been on these ecigs for past 2 years since being a 40 a day normal smoker since my teenage years(am 52 now).would recommend to everyone, you still get the smoking/vapour sensation -,its a different feel to inhaling normal smoke but you get used to it,still get the nicotene hit but not the tar which is what gives you cancer.

If a homeless person has enough money for the deposit and rent then I agree.

It's just a matter of choosing which house.

Smoking a cigarette is a matter of choice. It's a personal decision that comes from within. It's the same as refusing to eat sprouts. It's the same as refusing to drink another pint. (yOu obviously posted that reply after several eh?)

It's a simple choice ....that's all.

Hope this helps you ;)

These fake fags ain't the answer, you need to beat the habit of putting a ciggie in your mouth, also as you continue smoking these you will want more and more and eventually have a fag and you will...FACT,I used to smoke nearly 40 a day and started when I was 11,I gave up nearly 7 years ago after 25 years puffing. The only way to go is www.quitnet.com if you ask me,I have not craved a smoke since and would never go back,it's about telling your brain you don't like smoking, not replacing it with a fake fag.good luck mate. :ayatollah:

I gave up smoking about 4 years ado after smoking for 32 years i tried a patch for 1 night then decided to take a freiends advice and read a book by the auther Allen Carr " Easy Way To Stop Smoking " ( not the Comedian ) i stuck a patch on for 1 night but decided to remove it the next morning as i wanted to make sure i completely stopped taking nicotene into my body and wanted so badly to give up smoking decided willpower was the best form of attack ,Going back to the book i have to say was brilliant and certainly was a massive help and probably the catalyst that made me give up what i say as a nasty habit now although i have to admit i have put some weight on b ut wouykld rather try to control that than smoking.

well am into the third week on the e-cig and made a terrible decision , i'n out of coffee liquid so went back to tobacco and it tastes like shit cant wait for my delivery of cherry to arrive as cherry is awesome , coffee aint bad but a few days on either makes the tobacco liquid taste awful.

hoping to drop a strength again in the next week from med to low so fingers crossed it al goes well but aint smoked a real fag for almost 3 weeks and am feeling pretty good considering but will only be happy when i don't need anything at all :)

Well done! After a short bit you'll start to hate the smell of fags completely and when that happens you'll find yourself avoiding people who are smoking. Now I can spot a smoker aat 50 yards. If I walk past someone in the supermarket I can spot straight away that they smoke because they stink like a tramps vest.

What did it for me was I didn't want to be owned by the rich tobacco man who treated me like one of his puppets. Not only did he have an instant access to my bank account, he also decided where I work (if a job specified no smokers I wouldn't apply), he even decided where I'd go on my holiday because I'd choose the shorter flight.
He owns me no more! :ayatollah:

Hypnosis

dont be put off, it is the most effective way as it actually alters your thinking patterns and cravings to help you stop smoking, the suggestions affect your subconscious which is hardwired to the real thinking you do, and you will lose your desire for nicotine.

I've got 3 friends who are using these electronic cigarettes at the moment. One in particular was a really heavy smoker and he hasn't touched a real cigarette since adopting this contraption on New Years Day. He's down to using it twice a day but I'm not sure what strength his new smokes are?

All 3 of my friends swear by them if you're looking to quit the smokes.

I have been on a liberro ecig for 6 months now. It has been the best thing I have ever bought! I hardly use it now anyway I'm on the lowest nicotine levels and only really use it when I goto the pub! When this bottle of liquid runs out I'm going to get the 0% percentage nicotine so it's just the habit to kick when drinking which is when I use it the most. :ayatollah:

For anyone interested I use http://www.liberro.co.uk enter the discount code ecr69 for 20% off all your orders!
