A forum for all things Cardiff City

Cardiff City are lining up a pre-season glamour friendly at home to Premier League Newcastle United, we can reveal.
Bluebirds boss Malky Mackay is planning to welcome manager of the year Alan Pardew and his Magpies side to the Welsh capital on Saturday, August 11, a week before the 2012-13 Championship campaign kicks off.
The game will give Cardiff fans the opportunity to see close up Papiss Cisse, one of the hottest strikers in world football after his stunning goal scoring exploits for the Toon.
The Senegal ace is one of a number of leading stars who helped Pardew’s men challenge strongly for UEFA Champions League football, before they narrowly dipped out of the top four.
Finishing fifth still enabled Pardew to be chosen as Premiership manager of the season and he is on the brink of agreeing to bring his highly valued team to Wales.
A large away following of Newcastle’s famous Toon Army would be expected in the Welsh capital for what would be the perfect test of Cardiff’s credentials as they get ready for another gruelling Championship campaign.
Cardiff are also lining up a clutch of more low key summer friendlies with trips to Cheltenham and Forest Green Rovers mooted.
Boss Mackay expects to hear this week what his transfer budget will be as the club’s Malaysian owners outline how much further money they plan to invest in the Bluebirds.

Rubbish if true. Pre-Seasons are all about playing the lies of Merthyr away. Not prem clubs at home!

Not interested. Newcastle fans will still turn out in numbers though as they always do in pre-season!

It won't be the only game, they will have other games.
I believe forest green away was announced last week.
We have to have a game at home and to draw a crowd it has to be a decent team, at least they will bring fans.
Good choice imo

I trust by then Malky will have been given & used, sufficient rebuilding funds to have a City team boasting a potent strike force , width & pace from midfield and a back four that does not resemble Stonehenge . We need 5 or so changes to that first team to give us a fighting chance .
