A forum for all things Cardiff City

On Thursday Gwyn and I attended a meeting with Michael Hayward to discuss the Young Guns initiative.
We discussed how we are going to move the initiative forward, how the money raised so far will be spent and ideas on raising more funds in the future.
In it's opening season we managed to raise just over £6200 for the kids coming through the development centres and our academy.
The money will be presented to Scott Young in the next week or so and the money will be spent on training equipment and clothing for the kids through all the development centres we have.
Over the course of the next couple of weeks Michael will be contacting the local schools and we will be running a competition for the children to design a logo for the Young Guns so it can be easily recognised and there is also going to be a website connected to the official site where parents and the youngsters can see what the initiative is about and how it is progressing.
Moving forward we discussed having an evening with Malky Mackay and future new signings to raise more funds and provide fans with the opportunity of asking Malky and a some players questions about the new season etc. We have requested that this takes place before the new season kicks off.
For those needing a fix from ten o'clock tomorrow morning there will be many games between the Area's development centres in an ADC festival, it will give you a chance to see some of the up and coming kids picked up by Scott's Young Guns centres, this involves teams from seven year old upwards and should be a great day.
It is intended to raise money for Bobarth Wales a Cerebral palsy charity based in Wales and also to help the ADC charity raise funds to carry on their great work.
Then in the afternoon, there is a commemorative game in honor of Jeff Richards, between the staff at the stadium and the police
We have had produced 700 blue silicone wristbands with the words Young Guns embossed on the bands and will be selling these bands in due course.
We will be in constant dialogue with the club to bring you up to date information on how the academy and development centre teams are progressing and will report this via the message board.
On Thursday we were pleased to have more people attend the meeting who want to help out with raising awareness of Young Guns and help with ideas and also fundraising, we were joined by Andrew Parsells, Mandy McCann and Louise Evans.
We would like it if more people were able to get involved and help out and give a little time to supporting the future of the club and when the next meeting is announced anybody wishing to attend is more than welcome to come along.
This is the bottom level of our club and we can take a great amount of pride in that we are doing a little to try and help our club find the next Aaron Ramsey.

This is something we decided to set up a long time ago and something I am proud to be involved with, it is not about how much VT puts in but helping the kids from our areas to hopefully achieve their dreams.

your not as in Cardiff City , pissing money up the wall over there - its actually nothing to do with Cardiff City - they simply use the name for branding purposes.
