CARDIFF CITY stars Peter Whittingham and Kevin McNaughton have been named in the npower Championship Team of the Season.
Midfielder Whittingham has become a regular in such teams over recent seasons, winning a place in the PFA Championship Team of the Year last month. He was also crowned Cardiff City's Player of the Year at the club's annual end-of-season awards dinner after scoring 13 goals.
The selection of McNaughton might surprise some Bluebirds fans after the popular full-back produced one of his less impressive seasons in recent years.
The Scottish defender was, however, a regular performer, making 48 appearances.
The side was selected by pundits on BBC's Football League show, Manish Bhasin, Steve Claridge, Mark Clemmit and Leroy Rosenior.
Blackpool's exciting winger Matt Phillips, a January target for Cardiff boss Malky Mackay, also features in a side that contains West Ham midfielder Kevin Nolan.
The XI is entirely composed of players from the Championship top six, with Nolan and Whittingham joining forces in midfield again as they did in the 2010 team (when Nolan was with Newcastle United).
Judging panelist Leroy Rosenior said: "Whittingham has been key to their season with some wonderful midfield displays allied to plenty of goals"
