He still lost 7 years of his life but at least he wasn't hung.

For me this is absolutely my worst nightmare.

Can't think of anything else than being banged up for a crime I didn't commit.

They say there's no smoke with fire, but clearly that doesn't exist in situations like this.

Hear about some right horror stories of stuff that happens abroad!

Trying to explain the terrible flaws and effects of capital punishment to other board members is nigh on impossible.

I do think some crimes warrant the death penalty, and there are some humans that have committed such heinous crimes, they forfeit the right to breath, let alone waste tax payers money on keeping them safe on special prison wings!! Although i also like the thought of scum like ian huntley having to spend the rest of his days behind bars in constant fear of being harmed or even killed by other inmates!! I just wish they would make such kunts accommodation in these special wings a lot more degrading and despairing to the point were he will eventually be sent insane!!

It's obviously a very emotive subject, especially when it comes to high profile cases. But you almost always find that people who are pro capital punishment quickly become very angry towards people who hold the opposing view, accusing them of being wishy washy liberals or accusing them of valuing the perpetrator rights over those of he victim.

The problem I have is I don't have any confidence of the police getting the right person. They are geared for getting convictions rather than for catching the right person. Whether they keep getting it wrong out of pure ignorance or deliberately I don't know. Over the years they've lost more and more of their powers due to their incompetance and in recent years they've even lost the simple act of charging people. The system was so fed up with them failing to get the charging right meant they took it away. Now they have to report back to a lawyer who looks at it before deciding whether to charge or not.
The best part is all the coppers blame the previous coppers for their endless form filling etc etc. But they've been doing that for years, and the next set of coppers will be blaming this lot for the restrictions that they'll have to put up with, simply because whether they like it or not they are just as bad.

In certain cases where without a doubt they are guilty they should swing. Where DNA proves there guilt not circumstantial.
The moors murderers ETC if they catch the sicko that killed those 6 kids. If you set fire to a house you can't say it was an accident or you didn't mean it.
But there has to be a clear different degree of Murder that has to be defined, but some people are so evil that they should be put down. How about people or monsters (if you want to describe them like that) that commit genocide ? Killing Women and Children just to eliminates race. They don't deserve your pity.
But as we all know most murderers are let out within 6 or 7 years with good behaviour, at the least if you deliberately take a life at the very least they should be incarserated for the rest of there lives, with no TV or Playstation ETC.
