Even though i would love the investment

Thu May 17, 2012 1:14 am

we have to really consider the future ramifications.

We know that Vincent Tan would love us to play in red with a dragon prominent on the shirt, i honestly hate the idea and would never purchase anything from the club again. But i am just one person and even if thousands of city supporters took my stance it would not dent the asian market that Tan is focusing on.

If we allow this to happen then what is stopping Tan changing other things in the future, seats, outside cladding or our name.

Many are happy for the changes to go ahead for the possibility of premiership football and are willing to sacrifice our colour and badge to achieve this. Fine, but what if Tan's favourite/lucky colour was pink, the pansy was a lucky flower and the nickname Ladyboys was integral to his plan, would you accept this in the hope we reach the promised land, were debt free, had updated training facilities and untold reach in the asian commercial markets.

I'm sorry, i feel we need to have our identity protected and not swapped for 30 pieces of silver.
i await the onslaught, but consider what i have wrote, and really ask yourself, how far would you allow change to happen in the name of progress.

Dont bother. everyone is deluded by the promises and dreams - but thats all they are.

£100 million is just Wigans revenue for 2 seasons. Blackpool earned £60 million in the season they were in the Prem, The Jacks even more so.... but we have to spend the majority on stuff we dont need. Although to some this means we are going to be European Champions 2014/15 its cringeworthy it really is.

People completely ignoring (which is why im posting it in nearly every related thread) the fact that we will still be making huge losses which will then be debt every year to the tune of around £20 million per season. If ANYONE genuinelly believed we would become a force next year on the back of this we still wouldnt be 8th favourites to win the league next year, in a league where no massive teams came down and the biggest will probably be going back to the Prem. Money would be coming in for us - but its not.

Anyway, I hope people start to question all this soon instead of reacting like school children and jumping up and down and clapping their hands because it has danger written all over it. For example Tan buying a £10 million training facility to save 250k per season.... his relying on shirt sales in Asia when Liverpool only make £7 million there and are the biggest club over there. NOBODY CAN WATCH US, WHY WOULD THEY BUY OUR SHIRT??! Oh I forgot, coz they are red innit

My best advice - WAKE UP!!

Exactly, that would be just like calling a team the Black cats and then watching them play in red and white stripes. ;)

I think we need to fill our ground with local people first before worrying about Malaysians,I would be interested to know how much merchandise the Jacks,Reading,West Ham,Blackpool etc sell abroad and how it benefited them, the people who are fighting to turn red will get burned simply because it isn't the answer to our problems.

It puts a lot of pressure on the Malysians if they have their way,I wonder what will happen if we play in red and don't get promoted, will they still say red is lucky? and what excuses will the red brigade come up with.

Do all Malaysian sports teams play in Red? :ayatollah:

Gwyn has his own personal reasons for wanting red and I admire him for his belief and stance.

Yes loyalty comes at a price, there's nothing worse than people who one minute tell you Bob is great, then Bob is bad, the a few weeks later, Bob is bad again,it's no wonder some people have no credibility. ;)
