" NEW KEEPER ? "

REPORTS suggest Cardiff City are interested in signing Peterborough goalkeeper Joe Lewis.

The 24-year-old former England Under-21 international is out of contract at London Road and available on a free transfer.

Lewis, who stands at 6ft 4ins, started his career as a trainee at Norwich and, following loan spells at Stockport and Morecambe, signed for the Posh in January 2008. He has since made almost 200 appearances for Peterborough although last campaign he saw his opportunities limited and he has now been released by boss Darren Ferguson.

Cardiff manager Malky Mackay, who faces competition from Championship rivals Ipswich Town for Lewis, could see the stopper as the perfect replacement for Tom Heaton who failed to agree a new contract and was released this week.

Im sure Aston Villa it might of been last season bidded for him, and i remember the chairman on SSN going mad because they offered so little for him. Less than they payed for Lewis, and was expecting atleast a 1mill plus offer. :?

The fact he is being released means nothing, Heaton has been released but still a good keeper.

Lewis is not all that to be fair.

How about Paddy Kenny? Leaving QPR & is a great keeper for the Championship.

You should go for him before Colin signs him for Dirty Lids.

Lewis has been hopeless every time I've seen him for them - his distribution is much worse than Marshalls and for a big man he doesn't command his penalty box either. Why didn't we just improve Tom Heatons contract? A very poor decision to let him go in my opinion.

I don't think it was a case of improving his contract there was one on the table as far as I know, Heaton wanted first team football which we couldn't offer due to Marshall being number one. My guess is Bristol will be his next stop, closeish to Cardiff, they just released James which I imagine was probably on a decentish wage.

Heston should have been the no. 1 instead of Marshall, but he's gone now anyway. I'm not sure whether Malky will regret the decision to put Marshall before him but I certainly disagreed with it.

I doubt he will regret it, he has seem both all season and which ever one he chose the other would have left.

IMO Marshall is number one but only just.
