A forum for all things Cardiff City

Seems im in the minority and that minority is shrinking by the minute. I cannot for one second imagine standing in CCS clapping a team in red onto the pitch unless its Wales. I just cant. Im a Bluebird, the clue is in the name.
I respect the pro red lobby who in fairness probably have logic, pragmatism and commonsense on their side but since when did any of these virtues count for much in following City.
For me, we are the Bluebirds and must play in blue. I can just about accept that compromise kit provided its predominantly blue and we have a bluebird on the badge but fear its the thin end of the wedge.
Cant help thinking of those Ponty egg fans left stranded by the Celtic Warriors, left without a club. Yes we've had different kits and badges over the years as we have evolved as a club. But to change overnight isnt evolution. For me the club will die at that point - forget this nonsense of "he'll pull out and well be in the conference or worse". Thats just a different route to the same place. Cardif City in red isnt Cardiff City and there will be a spare seat going in the Ninian Stand.

Im with you on this but its all getting boring now even worse when THEY who are supposed to talk for fans (but there not) roll over to snuggle down in pink PJ's. Others want to have there best intrest at heart aka work on the new projects for there companys and some turn quicker than a hare being chased by a lurcher. meanwhile back in the ranch f**k ARE CLUB and what its stands for

Your not a minority mate, your a majority.
Dont a let a few message board let you think otherwise.
Aint spoke to anyone who's happy about it.

I'm the same.
Not sure if we are really the minority, just a lot of the more prominent supporters have changed their minds or had their arms twisted. The vocal majority seem now to be Red, funny how things change in a couple of days, or it could be described as pathetic.

Don't want to stur but can I ask how old are you? I've been a suppoter since Danny Malloy was captain and seen season after season of want and frrustraion.
Everytime we seem to open the door it gets slamed in our faces. we have to embrace change however hard it feels. These guys are genuine and honourable and if they have a plan we have to embrace it

Mid forties mate. Been a regular since mid to late 80's. Im not looking to slag anyone off in this thread, just wanted to voice my opinion that I cant follow the City in red but the tide seems to have turned and Ive been left stranded on me todd! reassuring to see others feel the same. Ive been to Hartlepool and Rotherham on a weekday as well but Id rather do that again than pay in the premiership in red - I really genuinely would.

I don't think it's as simple as being pro red or anti red. I think as you've quite rightly stated that the majority are pragmatic about the situation and, given what is at stake, think that the majority of fans are of the opinion that the ideas may at least be considered.
Given that we play half our games in a different colour anyway, surely a compromise of a mainly blue kit with some red and maybe incorporating a dragon into it somewhere would be worth a try.

I'm in the so called "red camp" and i'm from the rhondda and i promise you that i have only met one fan who is totally against all the proposals (this happens to be one of my closest mates).
I don't by any means claim that these views represent all the bluebirds from the rhondda but i promise you that out of about 50 i have dpoken to that this is the case.
Sat May 12, 2012 9:16 pm
i'm just as uncomfortable with the idea of city playing in red as you el gwapo as much as i want our club to progress i just can't get my head around city's home kit being red it just ain't right

I can live with the compromise kit as i said but football is eating itself. Ive never felt as distanced and unconnected to my club as i have done this week. 'king ell, everyone is at each others throats, does anyone recall we lost a play off semi final last week.

Rhondda myself mate - our group is split down the middle from what i can gather, tho of course the blue half is correct

Great post, and pretty much sums up my feelings on the whole matter as well.

It's all about conditioning. You didn't start watching Cardiff City because they wore blue shirts. The affinity with the shirt and badge grew over time. The same can happen again with whatever colour shirt the team wears. We will all be in this together and so it can bring the fans and club together like never before. But you need an open mind and the will to make something succeed. Now is not the time to turn your back on your Club
Sat May 12, 2012 10:35 pm
feels like my club is turning its back on me
Sat May 12, 2012 10:41 pm
Fully understand that fella and I admit I've been doing a lot of soul searching this past week. I just think this could be the start of so something that in 5, 10, 20 years we will look back and say we did the right thing. Who knows we may be back in blue on the future but with the club in a much better place financially, team wise, league position and structure . Keep the faith and ride the storm
Sat May 12, 2012 11:25 pm
I'm feeling the same. Why do some people want us to change colours when we may also be able to have the investment while playing in blue
Sun May 13, 2012 12:28 pm
I and all my family DO NOT want to change to red. We play in blue. We are the Bluebirds.
This idea that a majority now want a change to red is not true.
I like these new kits that have been forwarded on to the club, but as long as the home kit has a majority of blue in it.
They can do what they want with the away kits!
