Over the last few days, I've not hidden my feelings and was "vociferously opposed" to the proposed changes. However I was opposed in a passionate and controlled manner, like the majority of other people who opposed the plans too.
Surely the logical thing to do moving forward, based on the facts, is that everyone draws a line under what has happened and move on?
I can understand why Vincent and TG feel offended, I'd feel exactly the same. In fact, I'd feel like Cardiff fans were disrespectful and ungrateful.
HOWEVER
Lets not shy away from the fact that Cardiff City Football Club have handled this whole situation VERY badly and the whole situation could've easily been avoided.
1. If a statement similar to today's open letter was published Tuesday, the whole situation could've been avoided. Gary Lineker and Kelly Jones had time to voice their opinions on our clubs future, why wasn't our club able to do the same?
2. Why were we kept in the dark over the plans for so long? Whether the information was leaked or not is irrelevant, this information was still factual and had a lot of substance. The club went about these changes in a deceitful manner.
3. Why haven't Vincent's ideas been presented in a positive or logical way? Why not mark an exciting new chapter in our club's history, by adding a dragon to our clubs brand and inviting feedback and ideas from our supporters? This would've had such a positive impact and resulted in a win win for everyone. Our supporters would've felt like they owned the new brand and bought into it.
In summary it is a catastrophic PR nightmare that the club needs to learn from.
Yes fans reacted badly, but people are less rational when they feel betrayed. [This in no way excuses racist, abusive or threatening behaviour. That can never be excused and is bang out of order!]
I am hearing a lot of back tracking and finger pointing at the moment amongst our supporters, but I think everyone needs to learn from this. The club were out of order and deceitful, whichever way you dress it up. This could've been nipped in the bud Tuesday and turned into a positive.
Stronger links need to be established between the board [hopefully in the near future our Malaysian friends

) and supporters.
But I can't help feeling that the club missed the boat on this occasion and paid the price, now everyone could go the loser...
How do you feel about this?
