Is the constant leaks that come out of the club and those esteemed ‘fans leaders’ who for some reason think they have a right to know everything that goes inside the club!
When you receive information that you know shouldn’t be put in the public domain, you have a responsibility and that is where you should engage your brain and realise the potential implications of releasing what you know.
There have been far too many examples in recent years of this message board being responsible for the ugly side of supporting Cardiff City and that is when fans think they have a divine right to know everything. The greatest example of this is when ‘fans leader’ CarlCCFC released a recent ‘update’ stating a player currently with the club will never play for ‘us’ again and certain individuals (quite a lot in fact) or ‘fans’ on here put 2 + 2 together and got Anthony Gerrard, resulting in him being bombarded on Twitter and the rumour mill starting all over again! Now CarlCCFC didn’t name Gerrard in his ‘update’ but it was quite obvious only a few players at the club could be the individual he referred to so that info should have been kept under wraps as there was always going to be a guessing game that would get out of control!
Remember, we are merely fans, we are not shareholders, we are, in the owners eyes consumers who buy their product – that is reality and for those who spout I went to Halifax, Darlington etc and want those days back, really, your ambition is staggering!! I’d hazard a guess a large percentage of you were crying out for investment in January and when it didn’t happen, groans of ‘we were never serious on promotion’ appear – seems a moderator was still moaning last week about Malky not getting backed in January!
When the club appears on the face of it, to be serious about securing the future of the club (equity was planned and not loans, a huge commitment in my eyes) history, heritage, fans rights etc. all get questioned.
If anyone has an ounce of common sense and sees a business who turns over c£17m, loses money with liabilities growing at a rate of knots and a wealthy backer who is serious about injecting £100m gross (including debt:equity swap), you’d bite their hands off as the club needs serious financial support and this kind of commitment in the current climate is not freely available!!!
So to conclude, the leaks need to stop so announcements can be mode via the correct route and we as 'fan's should wait in turn until we hear the information we are meant to. This message board and its owner/moderators need to wake up and realise you are only fans like the rest of us, you pay your money, you do have a voice but you also more importantly have a responsibility and whilst this board wasn’t solely responsible for the u turn, you contributed significantly via social media and therefore are accountable and let’s hope the damage isn’t irreparable but I’m those self-elected fans leaders will be doing all they can to save the club when TG fly’s in………
By the way, I am a season ticket holder and have been a fan for c20 years before anyone deems me being less of a fan because I never went to The Shay…..
P.S I expect a DM from a moderator as I did last time, accusing me of being Gethin Jenkins – remember him, I seem to remember this board whipping up an anti Gethin frenzy – you must be really proud you got what you wanted then as well!!
