I personally do not think VT etc will walk away from this unless after a year or so of looking at the behind the scenes nature of our club they cannot see a return for the investment (£30m+ so far?). As has been mentioned more often than not, they are businessmen, and extremely successful ones at that. The "do they / don't they give a rat's ass about Cardiff City FC?" again has been debated to death - and NO ONE knows the true answer, people just summise.
I'd like to think they are (were) enjoying their time with us and can see that there is potential for a return on their investment and that can only mean good things for the club as they need success to make their money - and we as supporters will welcome success providing it is done properly.
If you read the statement it says a lot of what has been reported was never actually on the cards (the name change, the change of stadium colour etc) it was leaked from someone within the club and obviously been blown massively out of proportion.
Extract from the statement...."I can categorically state that there were never any plans to rename the club. Cardiff City Football Club has a rich history, which we are honoured to celebrate and share locally, nationally and internationally.
"The new club crest and home colours
which were being discussed were intended to demonstrate the symbolic fusion of Welsh and Asian cultures through the use of the colour red and the predominant featuring of a historical Welsh dragon under the Cardiff City FC name. This would have been a springboard for the successful commercialisation and promotion of the club and its brand, driving international revenues and allowing us to fund transfers and success locally, thereby giving the club the best chance of competing at the higher reaches of competition.
This was not meant as a slight in any way shape or form on the club's traditions or history which we recognise are the lifeblood of any club. It was intended as a positive change to allow us to adapt and embrace the future. Notwithstanding a number of rumours there were no further plans to turn the stadium red or make other radical changes."
I just hope people realise there's a lot of mileage left in this. We need them otherwise there is a serious possibility we won't have a club left to follow. So compromise is the best cause of action.
I would stomach a red shirt with blue trim (not black) for a home shirt & a the exact opposite for the away shirt, providing the bluebird crest is either on the badge, or as suggested, embroided on the shoulders of the top.
Just lets see how this pans out rather than jumping the gun - or worse, loading it & shooting it at our feet.
