So down right now

I was full of beans this morning arguing the case in work and winning long time fans over to the realisation that VT's plans could have led to some very exciting times and then this afternoon I heard he bombshell that the dream was all over.

With the £100m investment, a significant commitment from a very successful businessman who understood that not only a premiership football team but a successful premiership football team could generate the volumes of commercial sales in Asia that would make the business that is Cardiff City a successful one and this guy only deals in success.

Without the £100m investment, probable administration and an eventual sale to the likes of owner that we have been used to, not rich enough to be able to afford to pump money into a loss making venture in the long term leading to an inevitable build up debts just to keep us fans happy. Relegation battles would be more the norm and fan numbers would decrease to the levels we used to see on the back of what we had become used to over recent loss making seasons.

The one thing more than anything that VT has realised is that for a football club to compete and flourish is for it to appeal globally. Most of the big guns having historically enjoyed years of success, have been forced to use their successful history to compete and flourish in these difficult times by being able to reach out to overseas markets. Cardiff City as much as we are proud of our history doesn't have the successful past that the giants can boast of but what we currently do have is a very successful and well respected owner from Asia who has seen how Cardiff can compete and flourish in the market he knows so well i.e. change to red and emphasise our national emblem, the dragon.

As much as we would love a local rich individual to buy Cardiff City and plough his money into the club it would never last and the club would inevitably suffer very much as Blackburn have done ever since they lost their long term local benefactor. Fortunately unlike Blackburn and Birmingham we have an owner with vision or at least we did as I fear he will give up on this club. If I was in his shoes I would.
