Building towards a compromise position

Thu May 10, 2012 6:03 pm

I posted the following yesterday and still believe the malaysians are skillfully manipulating this situation until such time that we will eventually be grateful to accept some major changes. Once the reality of admin or worse starts to sink in if they genuinely state they could be off, then most fans who originally opposed the ideas, will soon agree to change.

Yesterdays post

If you understand politics and business, you will appreciate the skill in which the rebranding message is being delivered.

How often have we seen a leaked document from parliament suggesting some sweeping changes and unpopular proposed legislation or policy. The leak is deliberate and designed to provoke a response to gauge public reaction prior to the actual announcement.

If you present people with the worst possible scenario and then make changes that are not as bad as expected, people are suddenly more willing to accept the middle ground. If a leaked pre budget statement gets into the press two days before the budget saying income tax will increase by 5%, everyone vents their spleen and expresses their anger. When the chancellor then calmly announces a 1% rise, all of a sudden everyone is relieved rather than angered.

Perhaps we are being given the worst case scenario, to make us more ameniable when they finally present the final plans. Maybe the seats will change colour, maybe the shirt will change colour, but all of a sudden it's announced that the Bluebird will stay on the badge. All of sudden the changes to the colour of the kit and the ground suddenly appear minor, because we saved the most important thing.

Who know's, maybe VT's playing a skilful game.

Judging by annis' latest post about vt flying in, it still sounds like the compromise is on the cards.

I sense some of the viciferous opposition to the original plans have
suddenly gone very quiet, suddenly sh*ting bricks that they may actually get their way and get to watch city in the lower leagues again.

Careful what you wish for!!!
