Tan and his consortium have had enough of Cardiff City and decided it was time, with the money made from Facebook, to stop backing a sinking ship and to use the money floated to reinvest somewhere else, a new project.
So they came up with this ingenious idea to completely re-brand the club and get a large proportion of the fans irate and turn against them. They waited for the leak, which was probably fed to the media to get the ball rolling, and then they waited for the hysteria from the fans. When this happened they then saw that their plan had worked and a large number of fans wanted them out.
Now, with the fans against them they can easily release a statement saying they never wished to offend and they won't re-brand giving the fans what they want. However, deep down, they're just getting what they want, an excuse to not fully commit and an excuse to find a new investor(s).
This was the plan all along. I'll tell you why. If they were so committed to this change, had the belief in this change and believed they could profit out of it, they'd have done so regardless because they're businessmen and they knew fans would eventually turn up anyway. I went to the first 4 games at Cardiff City Stadium, missed the next couple because of the atmosphere but in the end my love for the club kicked in and I just had to go back to it. I couldn't be away from my club. Eventually, we would have gave in and watched a red Cardiff. Those with strong enough motivation, those very few, would have been replaced by a new generation of fans wanting to see a new Cardiff City so the attendances would have been high.
Their intention was to whip up a frenzy and put the blame on us rather than just admit they didn't want to fund us any longer. So rather than admit that they masterminded a great business plan and put all the blame on the fans who turned against them. Now the media will say 'CARDIFF FANS REJECT £100M INVESTMENT PLAN', and we'll be made the scapegoats for this.
Quite frankly, I hope investors with the same vision as us come in and let the Malaysians go. They were never fully committed to the cause. If they were they would have backed Malky in January and gave him the funds he needed then to add depth and strength to the squad. We as fans are not idiots and I'd rather spend another 10 years bouncing divisions with an owner who has real belief in us, an owner who loves us and an owner who wants to see Cardiff City, the Bluebirds, doing well and getting to the promised land.![]()

I remember the dark old days at Ninian Park playing in the pit of the English pyramid and those who were there will tell you they were some of the best nights out you'd ever have gotten in your life. Honestly, I'm yet to have an experience at the Cardiff City Stadium that comes anywhere near some of the experiences I had at Ninian Park. Money at your club doesn't mean everything, sometimes struggling brings you closer together. Its the same as a family at home, yes money brings you security but some of those families that struggle to make ends meet have the most close knit bond you can get. I'd put that over money any day but unfortunately in todays world, a money driven commercialised world, we have many people ready to sell out than have that feeling. Thats the big disaster in all of this, nothing else.
