Fan power frightens off £100m investment. :(

Facebook petitions/planned meetings against the changes and messageboards have a lot to answer for. :( :(

Re: ITV Just announced

Yes we may keep our history , but will we keep our club ? If bang goes our club then the history will soon follow.
No way was I happy about our colours going, But This club is a buisness like it or not ! and without money coming in, like all buisness we will soon fold. Watch the creditors soon start coming to get there money .

Nuc's all very well fighting for the history of the club, but only if there is a future.(as someone just said in another thread) :(

My family have supported the club for generations - My grandfather was at the Cup final in 1927 and I've been there at every recent Wembley appearance, but sadly, there won't be any more for this once great club.

I fear it will all be over very soon, and all we'll be left with is history and the Jacks in the Premiership.

Where does it say they are not investing anymore?

ITV said that the club cannot go on without outside investment as their re-branding had been scuppered.

In othere words they will not be putting in any more cash. :(

Re: ITV Just announced

we have always managed to survive. even if it's at the cost to go down to League Two again. Rather that than selling our soul, the crest made it for me, if we played in red with a blue away strip, ok. we could change back to our blue after the Malaysians are gone. but never ever would I back a CCFC that sold our identity down the river, just to make a profit on the Asian market (which I highly doubt)...

If (and there's a big IF) the Malaysians leave, we could start to rebuild CCFC properly, without those buisinessmen, who are there not because the love the club but just see us as a money making tool.

Why are we in this situation?

We were in the 4th league back then and a certain Sam H. came in and promised us everything we could dream of. Yes, he got us in the Championship, but for what price? He invested money, spend millions...but not his millions. He got us money from outsiders, who want it back sooner or later. CCFC spent all the money, needed more money etc, so we got even deeper in the debt.

Then the Riddler came, got us even deeper in the shit, sure the FA Cup final was great. But was it worth it?

Now the Malaysians, who saved the club for a start. Why did they do it? Cos they see CCFC as an investment again, a tool to make money in the far east...

To me a football club is more than a shop, company or a brand which you can sell or rebrand, rename etc.

And before anyone starts, that this isnt possible, we're going bust without rich guys investing (not spending) money...

IT IS POSSIBLE!!!

Look at the Bundesliga for example.

the ordinary fan can become a member and pay his membership fees into the club (e.g. 62 Euros annual at Borussia Dortmund). in return (besides being able to buy early bird tickets for cup games etc) he has a vote in the members annual meeting/assembly and can vote for or against the board and their proposals. the board stand elections every few years, but need to present everything they do to the assembly.

then you have the "Aufsichtsrat" (Supervisory board), which controls finances, the business side of the club, expenditure and the work of the board. the Supervisory board is usually a group of businessmen, ex-players etc, and they give the go ahead and provide some of the funding into the club too.

without the Supervisory board, the board (chairman etc) cannot make any big decisions, and without the board, the Supervisory board cannot make any big decisions either. they each hold 50% of the football club...

I dont wanna show up and say everything's better in Germany (I follow Cardiff and not a Bundesliga side, altho having a softspot for Schalke and Offenbach), but I do like that setup that clubs have.

As a result, the Bundesliga is highly attractive, they do listen to its fans, low ticketprices, full grounds, successful marketing, heavy sponsorship, good image etc.

Surely there is mismanagement at some clubs (e.g. Köln, who just got relegated and who have financial problems), but they recover in the lower leagues and then go up again, cos the fans identify with their clubs. 1860 München played in front of 30000 every home game in the 4th league some time ago, taking 2000-5000 away week in week out.

Fortuna Düsseldorf play their first playoff game vs Hertha Berlin 2nite for promotion to the Bundesliga, took em some time to recover from their crash a few seasons ago, went down to the 4th divison also, but here they are again. financially in a very good state, highly attractive to sponsors, big gates etc.

would love to have something like this at the City, and I am sure 99% of you wouldnt hesitate to become club members and have a say too within the club. things like changing colours, the name or even moving to another location, would only be possible with the consent (?) of the members, board and Supervisory board.

WASTED OPPORTUNITY Part 2

Thu May 10, 2012 6:33 pm

What a laughing stock we have become !
Over the years football fans up and down the Country have been in uproar as Spiv owners have tried to fleece Clubs by trying to sell their Grounds for vast profits to Supermarket companies or Building companies( Sound like anyone we know ? ) or cash in on anything not nailed to the floor to leave the Football Club in the s**t then flee with no regards for the fans and what do we do ?, I'll tell you ...............we f*cking turn down a King's ransom because a minority of out fans are coloured blind and prefer Blue rather than Red and object to a Dragon being exchanged for a Bluebird on the Clubs Badge well i hope you hang your heads in shame for making us one of the biggest jokes in football  .

i agree with you, we never had notification from the top, just a person on the messageboard posting.we still dont know half of it either? but were all banging on about this and that, have the malaysians spoken to anyone of importance, not a third party. be honest. i dont think no one knows whats happening. even vt. might be pissed off at the moment. maybe he needs a day or 2 to cool down?

Re: ITV Just announced

Thu May 10, 2012 7:12 pm

Frankly anyone who thinks the determining factor whether the Malaysians invest £100m into our or any football club hinges on their ability to get them to play in a different colour and change the nick name is dull.

The naivity of some people is frightening. To say fan power results in £100m invest being withdrawn is equally as laughable.

Re: ITV Just announced

Thu May 10, 2012 7:14 pm

The way it was handled was piss poor..
If the Malaysians had come out themselves, and said that the only way they could see to move the club forward was to re-brand, and ask the fans for their support, they would have probably got a better response.

Instead, they got their minions to tell the supporters that they were changing everything, and it was non negotiable..That`s a sure way of getting the fans backs up.

Typical Cardiff, shit PR.
