Greetings from Shrewsbury

Hi guys,

Firstly, commiserations on your play off defeat. Having had our share of them in our recent history, I can sympathise with you.

However, like many in the footballing world, I've watched with a mixture of horror and surprise as the rumours about the re-branding of your club have gathered pace. As supporters of lower league sides, I think it's safe to say that our identities matter more to us than most, as we're hardly in it for the glory. Again I can sympathise with your plight on this. Five years ago, our clubs traditional badge, "the loggerheads," symbol of the town and used by the local council, was removed due to copyright reasons. In its place, a monstrosity of a badge was introduced, using a lion as its focal point. Not only does this have nothing to do with our history, but the image itself appears to have been lifted from a piece of Microsoft clip art.

Anyway, some of our fans have finally got ourselves organised and started a campaign to go back to our old badge, and I was wondering whether as an act of lower league solidarity any of you would mind signing the petition at- http://www.change.org/petitions/we-want ... oric-badge

With a bit of luck, the likes of ourselves and Cardiff can show that fan power does still exist, and that directors cannot simply trample over our history as they see fit. I appreciate you've got your own campaign to focus on, but any help would be gratefully received. Best of luck with your campaign!

Will certainly sign it mate.

Ive been to Gay meadow a few times, drove passed your new place 2 weeks ago - its nice, but like the corporate way football has gone, it lacks identity.

As you may be aware - a lot of swanea fans write on this site 'morriston monkey' etc at every opportunity goad or gloat.
no class.

I am proud of our CCFC lower league heritage and class myself, like yourself, a true fooball fan.

take it easy brother :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Done.... Like eddiep said, I am proud of our lower league history especially as we did not have to cheat our way through it financially like some of our West Walian friends by entering administration, TWICE....

I neglected to mention it in my original post, but I have done, and have been encouraging my friends to do the same.

Many thanks to everyone who's signed, it's great to see that everyone can come together on issues like this. Someone mentioned the difference between the New Meadow and Gay Meadow earlier. Much as I loved Gay Meadow, we had to leave to move forward as a club, and unfortunately it's led to us moving to a bit of an identikit stadium. But that makes retaining our history all the more important in my opinion. I don't know what the consensus is on your new ground, but I'm sure it's not a million miles away from how you feel.

Also, to the person who asked about Wildig- he's had a strange spell with us. He was played a few times as an inside winger of sorts at the beginning, but then found himself out of the team, and often out of the squad after that. But he came back into the team for the last ten games or the season or so where we were very impressive, again at inside winger. He doesn't really convince as an out and out winger, but he's done a decent job there, and there's enough to suggest he might be a good player. What's the situation with him? The assumption at our end seems to be that he's very unlikely to get a new deal with you guys, and that we've got a decent chance of signing him- would this be accurate?

Thanks again everyone

Most of us still havent got used to the new stadium and dislike it, it seems theres no atmosphere in there compared to Ninian Park. :ayatollah:
