Fans Getting the Wrong End of the Stick

I thought I'd just give my brief opinion on the re-branding lads.

After reading all the posts from those in the know and those with various views I am starting to see that for us to take the next step we might need a re-branding. However, I think the thing that has pissed the fans off isn't the re-branding idea, it's the manner in which it has been forced upon us. If the club had requested ideas for how to re-brand, given a set line of specifications needed and taken on board consultation and discussion with the fans then this whole process would not only have been achieved but been done with relative ease.

The main gripe that a lot of fans have, including myself, is that we have been told what is happening without any input. Ok, we don't plow millions into the club but we do invest more percentage of our wealth than these rich men on season tickets and merchandise etc and, unlike them, we won't receive any financial investment back if we do well. So I feel we do have the right to decide what happens to our club.

The one thing this whole re-branding thing is doing is tearing the fans apart which is what should never happen. We are one and we should stay one. I hope that over the coming weeks those that want the re-branding empathise with why the fans that don't feel that way but I also want those that do oppose the re-branding to understand why many feel that after decades of hurt they feel that the kit, badge and nickname (which will never disappear from the club so long as we are here) are a small price to pay for success.

Most of all though, I want us to all realise that this isn't just about the re-branding. This has been about how one individual has shunned those that have given the most to this club over decades and forced someone on us. I don't want the Malaysians to go or for VT to do one. I'm not an imbecile, I know his money is key. I just think taking the views of the fans on board is a small sacrifice for him to make in order to achieve success.
