" Nathan Blake is not happy with the proposals "

CARDIFF CITY legends have expressed concerns over the club’s plans to re-brand the Bluebirds.

But some of them have given a cautious welcome to the plans from the Malaysian owners, believing it could deliver the Premier League dream.

Former Wales star Nathan Blake was the most outspoken against the proposals, saying he cannot get his head around the proposals to change from blue to red.

But fellow Cardiff legend Phil Dwyer, the tough-tackling captain of the 1970s and 1980s, argued football is a business today and change needs to be embraced.

Blake said: “Will someone please sit me down and explain the rationale behind Cardiff City changing their kit to red because it makes no sense at all.

“If it really is all about selling shirts in Malaysia then why risk alienating three quarters of your loyal customers and supporters here? They may make revenue over there but they will lose it here.

“A backlash is coming from fans and the club really don’t want to go down that road.

“Cardiff City is not a brand like Tesco, it cannot be re-branded. The club is part of the culture and heritage of this part of the world and you mess with that at your peril.

“The Malaysian backers at the club might be the best businessmen in the world, but they don’t know the history of the club.

“Who on the Cardiff board is advising these people? Is there no-one within the club willing or able to stand up for this?

“For me it just cannot happen without some form of compromise. It’s impossible.

“For me you make the away shirt red and sell that in Malaysia as a home one. Job done and everyone is happy.

“All this talk of £100m investment might sound great, but how much of that will go to Malky Mackay for team strengthening?

“Anyway you can throw money at things, but that is not the way football works. You simply cannot guarantee success in the game.

“Look at Liverpool and how much they spent to get a top four finish and they are nowhere near.

“For me, there are certain things that make Cardiff City the club it is and that is the blue home shirts and the nickname the Bluebirds.

“That is the way things have always been and must always be.

“You can sell your soul for £100m, but karma has a nasty habit of ensuring decisions like that come back and bite you on the backside.”

The Malaysians have had this plan from day one, The crazy thing is in Malaysia YOU either support Liverpool or Man U; even Chelsea and Arsenal hardly get a look in, Are the Malaysians trying to sell a counterfeit Man U to the people of Malaysia? The Malaysians should stick to counterfeiting Reebok and Addidas as we all know They are really good at that, But to try it with Our football Club is absolutely Horrendous!! :old:

How close is the badge displayed in the ECHO to the real thing, Annis?

Why on earth would people want this? I'm so disappointed.

As much as we all hate the thought of playing in Red ( Which we have done before Remember ) We must all try and see that football has changed over the years. The big factor in football today is money money and more money, sad but true.

We now have a investor with a shit load of money, and I know alot of you will think and say, its not about money.
WEll IT IS ! , without backing Cardiff City goes down ,and I dont just mean relegation. Do you want to see us back in court week in week out and never knowing if the next game will be play.

I have been a Bluebirds Fan from way back in the Mid to late 50s, But now I have kids and I want them to see City still playing in the future, and I dont mean next season or the season after, but Im talking long after Im gone. If we say No to VT and his band we may very well be saying No to the future of Cardiff City . How long do you think the history of our club will last then ?
Yes they may talk about the Bluebirds in the few Pubs that we have left, but soon after the chat stops so will the history of the Bluebirds.

If you say I dont care, I would rather be dead than Red, we are only thinking of the way we think and what we want , which I think is the same old selfish way of thinking. The Club Cardiff City must live , Im sure we can still have a Bluebird on the badge . But like a Bridge ,if we dont bend with the wind , we will break and be gone for ever. I think if wearing a Red shirt will keep Cardiff City alive and out of court and free from the Taxman then fine, But while I wear Red on the outside ,inside Im forever Blue, and will always be so. Let our team wear Red, We can always wear our Blue shirts, and BY THE WAY, MOST OF YOU THAT ARE UP IN ARMS ABOUT THE CHANGE DONT EVEN WEAR A BLUE CARDIFF CITY SHIRT TO THE GAMES ANYWAY !
PEOPLE IN GLASSE HOUSES ! :old:

What a nightmare !! I want to wake up and make it go away !! This is the biggest fight the Bluebird will ever have !! But at the end of all this saga, we must remain the Bluebirds. But be sure of this to ! We will fight this to the end,and the Malaysians certainly have got a fight on their hands, we will not sell out our identity ! With those who will ! Shame on you !

football these days is big business and cardiff is a massive business oportunity, you cant changed the clubs history NO ONE can take that away from us, rebranding might finally produce the massive investment this club needs to get us where we want and need to be, the displays against west ham showed we need investment...... its nice to see ex players getting behind the calls for the bluebirds to stay blue etc....... the very same players that left the club for bigger pay packets !!!!!!

Unless someone else comes forward with deep pockets i cant see the investment needed to get us up into the premiership without rebranding under Tan coming forward......

Football is big business...... and cardiff city is a business, change is coming one way or the other, the future of cardiff city is what matters not what colour kit we play in........... imo :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Phil Dwyer seems all for it. Good to see that Mr Cardiff City is willing to pimp out his club so willingly.

Legg I’m surprised at too, but he doesn’t seem as keen.

ditto

As Nathan Blake stated - can someone explain the rationale????
If i understood, i may be willing to come to a compromise - but as it stands now - im fighting against it

Its not that I'm open to bending over for these bastards, I just want my club to be here for when my boy is old enough and for when he has kids too.
He has a Cardiff City Bluebirds pendent over his bed.

Work with us VT, dont kiss us on the face and kick us in th balls mun :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
