use the emotional argument but dont let your emotions take over
you need to persuade the malaysians that the emotional connection to every football club far outweighs the quality on the pitch.
we dont settle for our club because it suits us financially. We dont support Cardiff because we are lucky to be in a financial position to support a successful team or because we cant afford to support a better team.
in america this tactic the malaysians are trying would be successful, as success is the overall factor.
take three clubs in Wales Cardiff City, Swansea City and Newport County. There are fans associated to each club are based on several factors location, history, family history and to an extent success, but success is not the overiding factor in supporting your football club.
There is no evidence of waves of support chopping and changing from one club to another based on success or lack of it.
Yes the level of football played at the football club is a factor but not a vital one. Neither Cardiff City or Newport County found support dwindling after Swansea City were promoted to the Premiership.
We support our club because it has an EMOTIONAL connection with each and every one of us, not because of the size of the trophy cabinet or the quality on the pitch.
It was Bart Wilson who said that Cardiff City FC will always belong to the people of Cardiff so let them decide on what is right for the club.
