A forum for all things Cardiff City

MY THOUGHTS

I have been browsing this forum for a year or so but never logged on until the other day in horror at the changes being put forward:-

We are becoming little more than a FC Franchise for Malaysia. I don't trust the Malaysians at all anymore and I half expect that if we don't win promotion in the next few seasons they will lose interest leaving us with a Portsmouth style situation. Has anyone thought of that? We lost £10m+ last year without this investment.

If we fight this they won't go away, they have £35m tied up in the club which they won't want to lose if we are liquidated. They just won't support us any further and we will have to cut costs and break even (at last!). Langston didn't put us to the sword over a lesser figure so it is unlikely they will let more than that go to waste.

Cardiff City FC is the fans and the fans are the Bluebirds who 'bleed blue'. We played in blue when we became the only non English team to win the FA Cup in 1927, we played in blue when we beat Real Madrid in 1970 and we played in blue when we won the play-off final in 2003.

If I want success I could easily just support Manchester United (they play in red as well!) or FC Barcelona. But it's not about Premier League Football, it's about the soul & identity of our football club and how it's being torn away for a bit of cash.

Even with the cash, £100m goes quickly with new training facilities, extra seats, new seats, paying off historical debt. Even then Leicester failed despite extravagant spending.

I feel there is one thing we have to do to safeguard the clubs history and tradition. Start a new club. By all means support the new club, but we must have a Plan B if this all goes pear shaped. What if they pull out in 2 years? What if they can't agree with Sam Hammam? At least if this falls apart in a few years we'll already be a few leagues up the ladder!

Will we have to go to the League of Wales? Well Merthyr Town didn't so I doubt we would have to!

The future is FC Cardiff Bluebirds (or whatever name is chosen!). Fan owned, no debt and standing for everything Cardiff City FC 1908-2012 stood for.
