Be Proud!!

Tue May 08, 2012 9:03 am

The day after our West Ham has made me reflect oh how it has been an Incredible season and I couldn't have been more proud of Cardiff City for what they have done by getting to the Play Offs and the Carling Cup Final this season where we played a Liverpool team boasting £120 Million boasting house hold names Steven Gerrard and Pepe Reina. Even though yesterday we were truly beaten by a experienced and wealthy West Ham team. We e should be proud of what we have achieved. Keep Believing

Cast your minds back to 2008 we went on to the Fa Cup Final that season and finished a respecful 12th six points of a play off place, a year later just missing out on a Play Off Place by goal difference, a year later resulted us in making the Play Off Final with our crash stripped and injured squad and then in 2011 just missing out on 2nd and had to settle for a place in the Play Offs for the 2nd time in 2 years however it wasn't to be and it was during that period where we lost 12 players:

Craig Bellamy, Jay Bothroyd, Jason Brown, Chris Burke, Stephen Bywater, Michael Chopra, Martin John, Jason Koumas, Adam Matthews, Seyi Olofinjana, Gavin Rae and Jlloyd Samuel. We also lost four other players who had played for us during the season Danny Drinkwater, Andy Keogh, Aaron Ramsey and Chris Riggott.

On the 30th May 2011 Dave Jones was sacked by Cadiff City with Terry Burton and Paul Wilkinson being placed on gardening leave when Malky took over in June.

Cardiff City were looking bleak and with our squard boasting only first team players such as Mark Hudson, Kevin McNaughton and Peter Whittingham.

On the 17th June Cardiff City officially announced that Malky Mackay was the offical successor to Dave Jones. He came in knowing he had a big job on his hands trying to emulate what Dave Jones had brought Cardiff City. (Talk of him what you will but i classify Dave Jones a success with what he brought to the club. Signing players like Craig Bellamy, English International Robbie Fowler, Dutch International Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Aaron Ramsey on loan from Arsenal for his 2nd stay with the club where Dave Jones helped get him where he is by helping him mature and made the team fit around him and left for Arsenal for 5 Million. Also he got us to Wembley three times between 2008 and 2011 including the Fa Cup Final and the Play Off Final where a lot of big teams including Liverpool failed to get to Wembley.)

Going back to Malky he had a to rebulid a whole team and coaching staff. He didn't dive into the transfer market straight away and waited for the players he thought that would be healthy and disciplined and give there all. Finally players signed in the shape of Joe Mason (who really impressed me during the Pre Season Friendly against Parma when he picked up the ball and ran past a few of their experienced players and saw a shot that went narrowly wide.) Conway, Cowie, Earnshaw, Gestede, Gunnarsson, Miller, Taylor and Tunner. He then also promoted several members of the Youth Team to the First Team such as Evans, Farah, Jarvis and Ralls who has so much potential and being only 18 has a bright future ahead of him. Several more signings came in January in the mode of Kadeem Harris and Elliot Parish and several more were promoted from the Youth Team to the First Team including Theo Wharton who looked yet another player to be in for a promising future. In my opinion they have gelled well as a team and showed true discipline with us not having a red card in a season for the first time in ages.

The season started at Upton Park (and also ended there) and beat a shell shocked West Ham team with a goal from Kenny Miller as well as surprising many pundits and fans who were coming down from the Premiership expecting to walk the divison and take the Championship and get promotion to the Premiership. We then kept performing and beat teams along the way like Southampton and Reading twice. It was also during this period we had reached the Carling Cup Semi Finals against fellow championship rivals Crystal Palace and beat them 3-1 on penalties and this secured our 4th Wembley visit in 4 years against a Liverpool making their first at the New Wembley Stadium and gave it a right go only to be cruelly deined on the way we got there. Penalties. But we showed that money doesn't buy you anything but a good team spirit, morale and commitment will make you a good team. Players, Managers, Pundits and Fans spoke out in their support of Cardiff City especially several Liverpool Players and Kenny Daglish spoke highly of them.

We began to feel the strain and fatigue began to take over but after what was a controversial defeat at home to Hull City we went into another gear and went on a 10 game unbeaten run and by far were the strongest going into the Play Offs but in the end Strength and Experience over came us and it wasn't to be. We had over achieved and reached the Carling Cup Final and in the Play Offs in Malky Mackay's first season as Cardiff Manager. If you had told me this would happen i would take it and i'm sure you all would too.

Also we have had several records this season being the first Welsh team to reach the Carling Cup Final and equalling the run of 9 games unbeaten away from home beating teams such as Reading, Derby County, Leeds United and Southampton.

As for Annis and Carl thank you for your updated message throughout the season helping me find out what is happening to the club who we are linked with, who is leaving, the latest away trips and much more. Keep doing what you are doing as what you are saying is true and even though some people disagree with what you are saying don't let them get to you and keep producing what we all want to know and that is the latest news about our Football Club Cardiff City the one and only :ayatollah: :D

Several players this season have impressed me Including Mark Hudson, Joe Mason and Peter Whittingham as well as all the first team who have done their part. Peter Whittingham was the only first team player to play in every League Game playing the whole 90 minutes and in toal has played in a total of 55 games this season including two 120 minute games against Crystal Palace and Liverpool. He for one has had a great season and i see some have complained about his lack of effort. Did you consider this that he might be tired and in my opinion should have had some rest. But if we did this and that it might have changed the outcome of the season as well as probably scrapping the Carling Cup Run and instead gained promotion. Well i have to stay i'm glad we did it his way making us a force to be reckoned with and helping us be one of the BEST Championship teams this year on such a low budget and to think we didn't have a team to begin with in July we have done well. So i say to you now Keep Believing and Be Proud for what we have done is Truly Exceptional and I for one will be there Next Season. Bring it on :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Get your rose tinted glasses off, Malkys not good enough and the Malaysians certainly have questionable morals.

Proud?

You just got dicked 5-0 by a team with Carlton Cole in it.

Your CB's made Cole look like Demba Ba.

Why didn't Anthony Gerrard play? Is he honestly considered too sh!t to start infront of your current 2 CB's?
