Not convinced that Malky....

Tue May 08, 2012 7:21 am

Not convinced that Malky can plan, train, and delegate attacking and fluid football (YET!) Am 100% behind him for another season OK, but he was a bruiser of a centre half and looking at his Watford experience, it seems that they are happier with Dyche in charge. We average one goal a game under MM, exactly the same as his Watford statistic. All these aspects HAVE to improve next season.

I am a positive person when it comes to supporting City even in the darker periods, but these are just opinions on what I have witnessed in a lot of games this season. Its been for the most part, sideways, hoof ball, pass to the opposition, no width, no whipped crosses, no pace or box to box dynamism, strange team selections and substitutions and don't shoot outside the box! (Hudson and Whitts aside) Also strange goings on in the Jan transfer window, if a target says no, wheres the back up targets?

I like Malky very much and am desperate for him to succeed, maybe moving his family to a Cardiff base would help who knows? Maybe not, just worried that we are stuck with all of the above traits as thats the only football he and his coaches can give us. His signings seem to be those type of players too! Hope thats not the case next season and rams my concerns down my throat as its been terrible to watch at times this season.

In Malky I trust (just)! :ayatollah:

A first season and getting to the play offs and a cup final appearance not bad Eh! Malkay had to rebuild this past season and after losing all the players we did, he has done remarkable. Just wait and see who we bring in after July 31st. he will know what we need one or two strikers and some decent wingers and one midfield general, just be patient

77, seriously mate what is the matter with you!
Nobody is gonna have a pop at tangled for that post because anybody in their right mind can see that these are his genuine concerns and he raises some good points (not that i necessarily share his views) but you on the other hand just scroll through this board everyday looking for negative things to feed on! And for a cardiff city to have the desire to do that i find bizarre to say the least!
You will reply that you are a realist and i have my head buried in the sand etc but for any cardiff city fan who followed them in the late 80's and 90's, they should be able to tell you that these are absolute incredible times to be a cardiff fan. I am actually getting bored of wembley!!!!!!! Before i was getting bored of walsall!
Even this year we have reached the top 6 (higher than big spending leicester) only to be toppled by weat ham who have a premier league wage bill.
We lost to liverpool, LIVERPOOL on penalties in a league cup final ffs yet you couldnt even give our club credit for that (you were he only one).

Now we all know the jacks have temporarily leap frogged us but just cos they are over acheiving that doesnt take away from the fact that we are also over acheiving

Thanks Gringo!

To ritterate, I like Malky, and support him 110%. Its been a memorable season up to the very last game. But my thread is for thoughts on his brand of football. yes its a results business, and some teams make a living from winning ugly. But we have overachieved based on the style of football, tactics and players this season. Which is obviously great for us, and thanks MM for that! Or is it because the teams below us have made the league the poorest its been for some years?

I just love watching, pace, creativity, shooting and working the keeper, crunching tackles, box to box energy, width and fluidity. This season has been lacking that for me. 4-5-1 is cracking as an attacking tactic with the front 1 turning into 3 going forward and 2 'edge of the box' midfielders running in. But its a slow and safe 4-5-1.

These are observations and preferences of football style, not wingeing or criticisms.Honest! I remember the dark days like they were yesterday! :ayatollah:

Tangled, i watched watford destroy us at vicarage rd under malky playing football that more resembled barcelona than watford, i also thought they were the most entertaining team to visit cardiff last season when we were lucky to win 4-2.
Malky had different circumstances when he came to cardiff and i 100% believe having seen the attention to detail of his recruitment policy that the players he signed for us last summer were the players he had lined up for watford before he came to us. (apart from kenny and earnie)

This season i think he will have identified players who are needed not just to make us competitive but to make us a force next season. (well i hope so anyway) :D

I think next season will define Malky. Promotion or the sack for me. I hope the former. :ayatollah:

Hope your right, he's great with the press, good man management from what I can see, motivation no probs. And am so pleased with our final standing on paper over all in his first year, GREAT. But not the style of football. I sound like a spoiled brat and want it all, but will happily win every game ugly! Just some flair and pace and invention in the summer please!

Its just a review and observation of the 1st season of brand and style of football that is Malky Mackay.

1 goal a game at Watford in his spell, and exactly the same here, concerns me. Maybe we have been spoiled with Jerome, Chopra, Ramsey, Ledley, Burke, Bothroyd, Bells over the years and the entertainment bar was raised too high!

Malky is a complete joke and done nothing , Nice one Malky in a must win game just play 1 up front - never mind he's the most inept striker there is and the formation failed 20 mins .

What a joke
