Well done to Malky and the boys (a realistic view)

Mon May 07, 2012 10:17 pm

does any else think that due to our recent 'success' stories that some of us are a little over expectant on the team?

i cant help but think if we would of been beaten comfortably by Liverpool that we would of picked ourselves back up again and kicked on, possibly achieving automatic promotion, but coming agonisingly close for me had a more negative effect than it would of if we would of been beaten 3-0.

with the playoffs, surely you look at both teams, irrespective of form and just say that it would of been something short of a miracle if we won over the two legs, yes we probably deserved a goal in the first leg and going to Upton park with a healthy half time score may have changed things, but the fact is they have the best starting 11 in the league, and in my opinion if Malky was in charge of west ham from the beginning of the season he'd have won the league. Sometimes you have to just accept the better team won, i'm sure a lot of you on here play/have played saturday or sunday league football and when you get smashed you may be pissed off but deep down you know its because they have better players and/or a better team. The boys gave every ounce over the two legs but just couldn't cut it.

They doubled up on whitts in the first leg and he was average tonight but hes still our best and most talented player by a country mile. I was in the ivor davies before the first leg and anyone who drinks in there on match day will know they re-run all the matches from previous seasons, and it dawned on me how important he is to us,every time i glanced up at the screen 'most' of our goals from the past couple of seasons involve whitts. We have to keep him but can we..?

people talk about men against boys against west ham and in some ways you are correct, but to me its experience/quality/depth versus a lot of inexperience/rushed signings & solid championship players, a lot of those west ham players have/could play at premiership level, who apart from Whitts on his day, turner, hudson, future mason and dependent on your opinion Darcy could command a place on a premiership team sheet..?

I wouldn't say over achieved is the word, i'd say its a manager who has got every last drop of energy out of his skeleton squad for that i congratulate and thank Malky and the boys and am very much looking forward to next season, we'll hopefully see a 'molded' squad full of malkys signings and malkys players and we can see a bit more expansive football combined with the tireless gritty performance malky has instilled in the team this year!

for me we need some width, a goal scorer and possibly another center back, am i right in saying that we'll see the back of gerrard & earnie? possibly naylor? quinn? the players who were/are on loan too?

To do what Malky has done with the transition that came before his appointment and with the 'resources' at his disposal is absolutely terrific anyone who doesn't believe or think that is......... entitled to their opinion.

"Malky! Barmy Army, Malky! Barmy Army!
