Didnt deserce that.

Hes the only player can hold his head up high today.

Could have been a rout if it wasnt for him.

Agree with you Polo.

Marshall has saved us many points over the years, yes one or two mistakes but his reflexes and spring are second to none, solid solid keeper. Remember Swansea home when Chopra got the last minute winner he made that magnificent save!

Re: David Marshall

I'm sorry, it was poor keeping with collison's first goal down the city, poor keeping for nolan's goal today, will not come off his line, misses most balls that come in our box and just wants to kick it as high as he can to miller with two giant centre halts either side of him! Come off it he is shit :(

Re: David Marshall

Did well with the shot stopping.

First goal Nolan bullied him off his position and the he flapped at the cross for the aforementiond scouse c**t to nod it in.

He should've elbowed the annoying c**t in the nose and he wouldn't have been anywhere near the header.

Nolan wouldn't have lived in Swansea Road! :D

Better team won easily.

Heaton would be my first choice but you can't deny Marshall kept it resepectable in both legs of the play offs.

a very good shot stopper - I also remember that one he saved against Leicester in the semi final 2 years ago - I think either in the extra time, or just before full time - it was just in fromt of where I was sat :ayatollah:

He was rooted to his goal line again for the first goal, keepers are supposed to command their area, for a big lad he is useless in the air, he,s a very good shot stopper but over the years we have had loads of them, the last keeper i can think of who was great in the air was andy dibble!!!!

Re: David Marshall

It's still Tom Heaton for me. Marshall is too much of a raving lunatic, unfortunately.

Re: David Marshall

Mon May 07, 2012 9:56 pm

Wha a shocking performance over 2 legs, they scored more goals than we had shots....

Re: David Marshall

Made some good saves yes, one in first leg & one today in particular and no arguments about his shot stopping ability.
But, he lacks courage for a keeper, won't come off his line, very rarely catches the ball (lost count of how many he flapped at in 1st leg), doesn't communicate very well with his defence ( one occasion 1st half today, Hudson had to clear over his head running back towards goal, when it could easily have run through to Marshall) and his kicking is not the best.

Rooted to his goal line on a corner, in a packed box. :?

Has generally had a good season and is a good goalkeeper but you could say he was to blame for West Ham's 1st goal yesterday and maybe there first goal on Thursday too, should of got a stronger hand behind Collison's initial shot. Overall he's a good keeper but myself I'd prefer if Tom Heaton was our number 1. Will be sad to see him leave this summer as expected and what he as good as confirmed to me at the player of the year awards a few weeks ago. Neil Alexander as a back up to Marshall for next season anyone? Could happen what with Rangers' dire financial situation.

But we would then be back in the same boat as we are now,two keepers who are good shot stoppers bot useless in the air, in fact i would say alexander was even more rooted to his line than the two we have know, bring in a keeper who can command his 18 yard area and keep one of the two we have now as back up!!!!

Fair point that, Alexander like Marshall was a great shot stopper but yes very slow in coming off his line or commanding his box. Notice Ross Turnbull is Chelsea number 2, seems strange cos he was average when we had him a few seasons back and could barely kick the ball past the halfway line. Scott Loach from Watford could be a good signing, or maybe Joe Lewis who's been released by Peterborough and only a year or so back was called up to the England squad and made the bench in a couple of friendlies.
