Absolutely spot f*cking on.

Disgraceful that its A) played before the season ends B) Kicked off at 5:15pm

The FA are selling the fans down the river.

I'm so pleased ours was played at 3pm, as it always should be :ayatollah:

Crazy that they've got it before the end of the regular season as well.

He covers it all. from the time they let united, the holders, drop out of the cup, to the semis at wembley (he recomends Cardiff) and worst of all playing it before end of season and at 5.15pm.

yeah, I agree with all of those suggestions - I'd also give a 4th Champions League spot to the winners instead of the 4th in the league.

If Chelsea win the Champions League...they will be in it next season, and the team who comes 4th in the prem'League will miss out.

It's quite funny really as when Di Matteo took over no doubt his job objective would have been to make sure they qualify for the champions league. If they win it he will rightly get massive praise and completed his objectives. If they don't win it he has to go down as a massive failure.

But when Liverpool won the champions league why did the Premiership have the top 4 plus Liverpool then the following season..?

I think this is when the problem occurred. So the new rules put in place.

The game belongs to the multinationals and the tv companies now.

They dictate everything. Get used to it.

Stop talking nonsense. The remit would have changed once they got to the final of two cups especially
after koing barca.

Because Liverpool kicked off by saying they could not defend their trophy that they had won.
So UEFA changed the rules, and from that season onwards they only wanted a max of 4 teams from the main leagues mate.

So if they lose the champions league final you think roman will be happy that his club could potentially have no euro competition at all next season. I can't see that myself.

Intelligence and Romans decisions on managers in the last few years are hardly linked.

Di Matteo has done nothing league wise since he took over. Still 4 points away from 4th, same as AVB was.
Chelsea not being in Europe next season would be a disaster for the club.

No but it's always been what he wants to win, I they don't against Munich it will be another season of huge outgoings and no champions league trophy.

I just can't see him getting the job unless he wins it on the 19th

Re: Terry Venables Column

This thread started talking of the changes to times of kick-offs - which i agree are wrong.

Just to add to what we have been talking about....Champions League games are played on Tues and Weds, yet they play the final on a Saturday...This i agree with as it gives the fans a weekend in a different city at a normal KO time...
( unless your from Munich ) ;)

Re: Terry Venables Column

You are probably right otherwise hed have got it by now but fa cup winners, at worst CL finalists will soften the blow of a 6th placer.

If he cant get pep or jose i think he may go for rdm.

With the 5:15 ko it just felt like another game not a cup final.

Agree with you polo :ayatollah: The game should be the last game of the season at 3.oo pm on a saturday,or before the play-off finals.

RE KO times, also annoyed me all championship clubs last game kicked off earlier? Why? I thought maybe so sky could cover the action as it happened but it was hardly mentioned on Gillette soccer sat :old:

 very good

I was actually thinking it may give us a chance to get there, as we came so close in 2008, we may get there and do even better next time :ayatollah:

Can't see RDM getting the job.

Yes he's done ok using Mourinho's old tactics letting a bunch of old plodders dictate how and when they play but the remit at Chelsea is a much bigger job than that.

They need a strong character that can break their control on the dressing room and rebuild the team. There's only about a year left in that squad before it falls down to mid table.

They got the wrong man in AVB because they tried to change everything too fast.

I personally see it as a three season job bringing in younger players that can fit into Chelsea's current system and whatever new system Roman wants brought in over the three seasons until the current group have gone completely. Will cost a small fortune bringing the players in though considering the slow passing game Roman wants has become so popular lately

Re: Terry Venables Column

Problem is, as AVB found out, if you are going to rebuild and disregard the old guard then make sure you get young players who are up to scratch.

You cannot deny rdm has put the chelsea back in chelsea.
