Leicester and Cardiff are apparently in a chase to sign a Vardy from fleetwood. He scored 34 goals in 40 apps :ayatollah:

Thats the sort of player who I like to see us linked with . Lower league player who scores loads, but only 24.

Look at Lambert , Earnie, Tubbs, Graham and Maynard as players who were able to take it up a few levels and keep the goals coming. Charlie austin is another good example, from Weymouth/Saliisbury, to Swindon, to Burnley..

Its a big jump up from the Conference though and he is playing with the top side.

Wouldn't have to be £1m up front either, could build in goals bonus, promotion, appearnaces etc.. for the bulk of it.
I'd see him as a 'development' player one who could push for 1st team, but not be 1st choice to start off with.

Is he a targetman type ?

Be nice to get in there and grab him from under the noses of Leicester, and maybe the player would prefer to come here as Malky has shown young talent can break into our team if good enough. Could be alot of competition for a place in the Leicester side.

There was 8 or 9 much bigger clubs looking at him in January and they were looking for a minimum of a million quid at the time.

I've asked what Fleetwood make of him. One person has replied:

Vardy was the best forward player in the Conference this season and has many suitors.

Part of the attraction is that he holds every attribute, plus has the aggression and temperament to want to do it every game.

He can also play on either flank or down the middle as a centre forward.

At this level he just goes past people at great pace and is lethal with the finish. He can dribble and turn, and is very well balanced even at full tilt. You will no doubt of seen his goal to game ratio.

Given the number of teams interested its a fair bet he has the game to play in the Championship at least, and though we lost the match heavily his own personal performance against Blackpool was a snapshot that he should be good enough to hurt teams at that level.

He will be expensive for a Conf player though with reported bids of £1m + rejected in the window, and its speculated your looking at least 3/4 of that amount to buy him at this point.
