Sometimes We Need To Accept We Lost To A Better

team on the night and for me that's just what happened last night. West Ham came with a simple plan and that was to stifle our game and wait for their chances, which every team gets during a game, and take them. Their plan worked perfectly for them but it was one game and on Monday there is another and who is to say we won't take our chances.

Last night West Ham showed a fantastic work ethic and the way in which they pressed our players, in all areas of the pitch, was in my opinion very impressive. The result was our players were given so little time on the ball we invariably lost possession either by giving the ball away or by committing a foul. But still we created chances in the game and if Whitts deflected shot in the first few minutes had gone in rather than clearing the bar who knows what would have happened. West Ham were luckier with their deflected effort and such are the margins in this type of game we appear to be in an impossible position. However West Ham have one style of play, home or away, and the last thing they will want is an open free flowing game of football and there in lies our chance.

We are not out of this and although in reality we have only a punchers chances we do still have a chance and I for one will not give up on this manager or this group of players.

Let's forget about last night and accept on the day the better team won but Monday is another day and I say bring it on.

I can accept when we've been beaten by the better side, dependant upon the situation.

As for West Ham they put it what I would describe as a classic example of how to stop your opponents playing. As for Carlton Cole the lad is a real handful and fully deserves the plaudits he has received for his performance last night. He was the player who cleared Ben Turners header off the line wasn't he.

This is all about how full your glass is and mine if definately half full.

Annis I honestly believe Monday is set up to be a classic playoff match and hopefully one or two chances will go in for us.

Agreed we lost to a better team and there is a chance on monday of us trying to turn it around. Malky has done a great job this season far better than most of us could have wished for. However if we fail to go up this season it wont be about the play offs it will be the fact that we did not strenghen in January. look at all the top six sides and they all brought in players .That has now come to bite us on the arse big time.
