LET'S GET REAL, NOW.

Fri May 04, 2012 9:26 am

Forget the nostalgia, forget the inner hope, our season is done, as much as we can wish for something to happen Monday, it ain't going to happen, because we are not good enough, For the following reasons:-

1) We cannot defend properly in all areas of the pitch, we cannot defend in front of the back four, we cannot defend when the ball enters the penalty area, we are shaky every time the ball is put in the box, it's panic defending with players just thumping or heading the ball anywhere, and most times it goes to the opposition, to be put back in again.
The first goal last night was disgraceful defending, but it hasn't just happened last night it has happened all season, how mant times have we lost points by poor defending when leading, it is quite a few.

2). Our midfield is very poor, Gunnardson is too light weight, his tackling is poor, his distribution leaves a lot to be desired, and his vision of players around him is poor,I think he can improve in all these areas, but he needs to work on it pre season, otherwise no better than a bench player. And then we come to the most gifted player at the club Wittingham, it is no good being gifted if you only use half the season, up until Christmas brilliant but the second half of the season gone backwards,
Yes I know he has scored the odd good goal, but it is his over all play that bothers me,last nigh w h just crowded him out, but Whitts on song would have overcome that normally. Playing in front of the back four is not a natural position for him, he will never be a box to box player so he should be playing further forward.

3). Our attack is too light weight, Think Millar works his socks up front on his own taking players out of position and trying to win balls thumped up in the air all the time which he does not have much chance of winning, This I think has effected his whole game resulting in loss of confidence.

4) The kick and hope long balls up front are too easy to defend for the opposition.

At this time McKay is probably looking at his retained and players leaving list,I think we all have our own ideas as to who should go and who should stay , who he should get in, and who he should buy. Personally I think the time has come to start buying quality, not players that other managers don't want, because if they are not good enough for them why should they be good enough for us,by previous estimates the Malasians are putting in one and a quarter million per month into the club, that is fourteen and a half million pounds for the next twelve months, what for to stand still, because that is what will happen if we do not buy quality, we will still be in the championship the following year.
It is easy to to ask people to spend money that is not your own, but they have committed themselves to the club, so jow we need results.

5) Malky's style of management, my personnel view is that he has been a breath of fresh air to the club, he has reorganised the club from top to bottom, and done a good job with the resources he's got , but there is one thing that bothers me, and that is his on field tactics,ie pumping the ball long from defence, not playing the ball on the floor a lot more, playing KeV as an attacking full back, he will never be one because his distribution in the final third is poor , and I feel it is effecting his game, not leaving someone on the halfway line when the opposition has a corner, what the hell Millar is going to do against big attackers is beyond me, leave him on the halfway line.

I'm not saying that this is a bible for succes, they are mearly suggestions, and no doubt people will have their own opinions.
I look forward to next season and more sucsess, but not with the currant team.

Agree , we are not good enough punching well above our weight. Happy with the effort this season but think we got a few more years in this league to rebuild. People need to get realistic its gonna take time as we had to start again. Its hard to take some times but thats CCFC always do it the hard way.

Sorry Footsoldier, but I've been waiting 58 years, and I'm running out of patience.
