Im worried

Thu May 03, 2012 9:38 am

Just been looking at these financial fair play rules...

With Carl saying the Malaysians are investing £1.2m every month to keep us afloat, how the hell are we going to survive next season when Chairman investment is to be capped at £6m??!! then the season after its to be capped at £4 million, then the season after capped at £2 million.

Then we can only spend what we make and major fines for loss making clubs.

Are we in the doo doo should we not go up? :?

What exactly are they 'investing' all that money into, K.Miller's back pocket? Seriously, I am curious. You draw 20K + fans every week ...

We have debt repayments, plus wages and running costs of the club. Our income is £1.2 million short per month to service it. The scary thing is, the Malaysians are charging us 7% interest on everything they lend us to cover the short comings. So our debt is going up massively every month.

the thing is, we have been able to pretty much ignore it and gamble and spend lots in the hope of getting promotion and the prem money to pay it off... but the financial fair play rules prevent us from doing this any longer. This could be the biggest game so far in our history tonight and I dont think people will realise it until they see the aftermath of failiure to get promoted due to these rules.

I dont think it stops them doing it, it just means any input from owners needs to be in the form of equity eg creating and buying new shares rather than loans to the clubs. This is obviously less attractive to the owners but doesn't mean they can't do it. Also look at man city and their ludicrous sponsorship deal. There will be plenty of ways round it if the owners want to carry on as they are. I personally think that the input this season will have halved from last year, I think that they will have put in a max of 7m this year but this is based more on hope and expectation given what they said all last season about how they wanted to run the club.

Investment is capped at 6 million but you can also make a loss of 4 million, so there can be a loss of 10 million next year. Also no monetary fines come in until the end of the 2014/15 season.

But don't let that get in the way of yet another negative post by you today just hours before the game. You apologised for the timing of the first one but continued.

We have now had posts about player, tickets sales and now debt. What's next for you?

This sort of stuff is for the close season, you are slowly convincing me that you are an infiltrator posing as a Cardiff City fan.

Its only negative if we lose, it is a valid discussion point as the outcome of tonights match has a major effect on our future. Im just emphasising the importance of the game today. Ticket sales are terribly dissappointing, any City fan can see that. we are 9 hours from kick off and have thousands of tickets left. Lets be realistic here.

I have accepted the fact I shouldnt have said anything about the players drinking last night until after the campaign but dont see anythning wrng with discussig this sort of stuff.

Just do a Man City and pay £18m a year sponsorship

Re: Im worried

I am talking about it. I asked it is the biggest in our history due to the impact the financial fair play rules will have on us should we fail to be promoted this season. Pretty major talking point considering it could be a case of a big drop down the leagues.

The Malaysians give us £12 million a year just to keep the club affloat. Net year it will be capped at half that. Also our wage budget must be inline with our income meaning our top earners will have to be shipped out - kenny and whitts.

Today is MASSIVE. I dont think people realise it hnce the fact its not a sell out.

They are investors not a charity. They want anything they give to us back with interest, they arent going to start gifting us cash in the form of obscene sponsorship.

You obviously ignored my last post. It is not capped at half 12million.

Next year you can invest 6 million AND rund up a debt of 4 million. That's 10 million to play with. No fines are in place until 2015.

Most owners or whoever signed this agreement agreed to these new rules. Im sure we were one of them so im sure being sensible owners they have some sort of plan incase we do not go up this season :ayatollah:

Your not understanding economics of the club there. ill try and explain...

They can invest £6 million yes. which leaves a shortfall of £6 million per annum. or 50% of what we need.... Agreed? Usually this is where the Malaysians step in and lend us the money while charging 7% interest - and everything is hunky dory until they come asking for it back one day, but we dont like to think about that as it papers over the cracks..... but under the new rules they are forbidden to do this.

Now in order to make a loss, the club still have to pay these amounts - however we wont have the finances in place to pay them - which is when administration scenarios come in. These overheads include players wages, HRMC etc - we cant just not pay them.

ill expand -If you owed me £6000 and your income was £100 a week, but you could only borrow £3000 from your parents (50%). now, you pay me the £3000 but can only afford to pay me £10 per week after cost of living when in reality we have agreed you must pay me £250 p/w - as a result I will take you to court. You cannot magic money in order to pay me.
