Two Interesting Choices Of Referee For The Semi Finals

Wed May 02, 2012 8:12 pm

At home we have Neil Swarbrick who has done 3 Cardiff games all of which resulted in victory for the Bluebirds, 4-0 against Doncaster and 4-1 against Derby both at Cardiff and 2-1 away at Leicester City. He has only done 1 West Ham game which resulted in a 3-0 defeat at Reading where he sent a couple of West Ham players off.

The away game will see Mike Dean in charge. :o :o :o :o

Not good news for us but surely he owes us at least one decent game - Surely.

I agree with that and hopefully then, on the law of averages, he should be ok tomorrow night :ayatollah:

Thought Mike Dean did okay at Palace in the Carling Cup, even though he ruled out Miller's goal wrongly at the time!

If we'd have conceded a goal from a corner that shouldn't have been given, we'd have been pretty pissed off!

The same Mike Dean who gave you a scandalous penalty at the end of the last SW Derby at Ninian Park after being coined in the first half.

The same Mike Dean who should have cancelled out Joe Allen's strike, as Jason Scotland was standing in an offside position, interfering with play, as he was blocking our goalie's view!

Still not sure whether it should have been a penalty, but Allen's strike shouldn't have counted IMO!

Watch it back and Scotland is not in the 'keepers line of sight. And besides, the linesman didn't flag so how was Dean supposed to disallow it?

The standard of refereeing this year in the championship has been woeful to say the least! Hopefully the right decisions get made in the play offs this year! :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Never said it did! :)

To be fair to Mike Dean though, he's a quality ref IMO!

Mike Dean wouldn't have needed the linesman to tell him that Scotland was offside, as he was way offside!

He may not have been so well positioned to have seen him blocking the line of sight though, so I'll have to forgive him for that, but I watched the replay umpteen times and Scotland clearly obstructed the goalie's view!

As I said, I'm still not sure about the penalty, but believe that justice was done and a draw ended up being a fair result, although it must have felt like a defeat to you Jacks at the time! :D

We have only ever won 2 games with Mike Dean as the referee and I will never forget the night he sent Spensor Prior off in the League 1 Playoff Semi Final against Stoke City. Only injury time away from a place in the final to face Brentford before he decide to get all precious about something Prior said, cost us the game that night and it hasn't really got any better since.

We haven't had a player sent off all season but with Mr Dean that means nothing and for me 90 minutes, possibly 120, away from home with this guy in charge is the biggest challenge we face.

Unbelievable form the team of divers (encouraged by the gay Spanish waiter ).He had both hands on McCormack back and pushed him. He does it all the time as he is too slow to catch people, so just barges them about. Before that the obstruction that allowed Allen to score, you forget he missed that.

What about the jerks first goal in the 2 -2 at the ladyboy stadium, linesman (Mallarky I think) played on when Scot;and was yards off side, right in front of him.

Gomez diving and cheating t in the League Cup game, to earn a goal and 6 yellow cards against us. Seems like shit refereeing there.

Jerks first goal at CCS (before Chopras 2 won it for us), when again fat tw*t Williams barged our goalie out of the way so the ball went straight in from a corner.

Selective whinging from the gypos, always the hard done by.

He's not all bad then, if we've won 2 matches with him officiating! :)

To be fair to him again though, if Prior abused him, then he should have known better and Dean was only doing his job!

I wouldn't get too hung up with referees, as I believe that the vast majority of our boys are too level headed to get involved in anything stupid, save for Gerrard if he was to get back amongst the squad, Kiss for his somewhat cavalier tackling and McPhail, who is too quick to retaliate sometimes! :) :ayatollah:
