How would you feel if we didnt win the play offs?

Tue May 01, 2012 9:57 am

I dont see any reason why we cant do it but if we fail to go up would you feel as bad as previous seasons?

We finished 6th and came sooooooo close to winning the Carling Cup. This season has been the most enjoyable for years in my opinion. Anthony Gerrard aside, there are no egos or no players that go through the motions, this squad is full of players that work so hard for the shirt and leave nothing on the pitch.

We finally have a manager that the players and fans massively respect and really get behind.

If it all ends now, it's still been a brilliant season but if we go on to get another Wembley appearance and possibly promtion then it will be a dream and we should get Malky on some sort of lifetime contract

We will not win it with the squad we have. A number of reasons could be blamed MM not getting backed with players wages ect when he tryed to get them in or the downhill crap football we had to watch for a few months after january. We never got 3-4 players in we clearly needed for ages for whatever reasons otherwise we would be 1ST -2ND by now and promoted but none of this happened and we had to watch more draws/loses than wins for three-four months. We stayed in the hunt by some miracle as other teams lost the plot also yet if you went of form we would and should have been in bottom six for four months of games  . So we go vs westham with some form behind us again anything can happen but i see this season as a failer if we do not go up for the reason above. Who sacks a manager one season to do worse the next season. i do not blame MM i would blame the club fullstop as he could only work with what hes given :ayatollah:

I didn't expect us to get this far, tbh, so the play offs are a bonus, with no pressure on us. And if we don't do it, then at least i can feel proud of MM & our team for giving it a go.

I'm more than satisfied overall, anything more is a bonus, great season

Its a big challenge to win the play offs, so as long as they give it a good go we must be happy with a great season, and get ready to go again for next season. Reaching the play offs is great for the future of this club and will surely serve to only extend the clubs ambitions for next year. If we make our minimum target of hitting the play offs every year eventually we will succeed.

Got a sneaky feeling we could do it this year and will obviously be disappointed if we don't but we have had a very good season and there are 17 other sides in our Division who would love to be where we are now :ayatollah:

Whatever happens now we have a solid base to build from we a good Manager who has fostered a strong team spirit and made us a side that's very difficult to beat with additions in the right areas i am sure we can have a good go at automatic next season should we miss out this time around ;) :ayatollah:

Can accept not winning the play offs, but would be disappointed if Malky wasn't given the funds and support required to make the improvements necessary to do better next year.

Malky has proven his worth and shown he can manage with a limited budget and playing staff, let's hope they put ssome extra trust in him and put a few aces in his hand.

We've already over achieved this year, so not going up would not be a major setback, as it was for the last 2 seaons under old moans.

I would immediately be looking forward to next season :ayatollah:

At the start of the season I said I would be happy with a Top 10 finish so finishing top 6 is a bonus.

Anything more is welcome - but totally unexpected.

Malky is a miracle worker and I am totally looking forward to next season - Premiership or Championship

No, this season's different. I really want us to go up and I think we need to, in terms of debt etc, but we would be in a very strong position to take an auto spot next season.

Mind you, I've got a feeling this is our year.

We haven't done worse, though.

Last season, we reached the play-offs.

This season, we reached the Carling Cup Final and the play-offs.

I would be happy even if we dont win, cos I really Believe we are not ready for the prem and would come right back down and I dont want that for us. If we went up we would have to buy nearly a full team.

I really dont believe we have prem quality players, I dont think even whitts would make it. I believe he is a great players for the championship along with a few other we have. But ask me if we have any prem quailty players I would have to be honest and say NO ! If we went up we would have to buy a new team and I cant see the top guys here handing over around 40mil which I believe we would need to spend to have any chance of staying up. :old:

I think a lot of us tend to hold the Prem up as the promised land, as if their players are miles ahead of any in the leagues beneath. We gave Liverpool a good game in the Carling Cup Final and I honestly believe that some of our players are Premier League quality, including Whitts.

I agree with you, though, that we would need to strengthen, if we get there, but all the other teams have done the same.

The final with pool was a one off cup game ,and we all know how we play in cup games we dont play that way week in week out.

With an increase in fitness (for some of them) and the experience of playing better quality teams every game, I think we'd see an improvement in lots of our players. If not, they'd be out the door and others would be lined up.

I believe that a lot of our players are better than we give them credit for and part of that belief is borne out of the way they lifted themselves against Palace the other day. Mind you, we played a big part in that, by being so supportive from start to finish. There's a lesson to be learnt there: this team plays better with a bit of encouragement, rather than the criticism they've received at some home games - I've been guilty of it, so I'll behave in future!

We finished 12 or 13th under Dave Jones in his first season then took 3 years to get to playoff positions so i am very pleased with how we are doing under Malky after one year. :D :ayatollah:
