In the States it's said there are lies, damned lies, and statistics. That being said, I was looking at some ESPN statistics for the City today and noticed that Joe Mason has 9 goals on only 31 total shots (22 on target). I'm not trying to rip on Miller or certainly not Whitts, but their goals per attempt on goal are nowhere near young Joe's.
Miller 10 goals on 74 shots (33 on target)
Whitts 12 goals on 103 shots (47 on target)
Granted, Whitts drops in some long range bombs and Kenny will often try to turn something out of nothing, but I'm struck by how few shots Mason has had and just how well he has done with the chances he has gotten, especially being a mere 20 years old! Again, my intention isn't to pick on the other players, but to rather highlight just how effective Joe Mason has been for us this season. Any more like him out there for $250,000?
